Water park questions

We are going to Blizzard Beach for the first time and I have a few questions.

1. Is Monday a good day to go?

2. What kind of shoes do you wear? If you wear sandals, what do you do with them while on the slides? Can you walk bare foot most of the time? Or are water shoes better (the ones you don't take off). Or do you even have to take off the water shoes for the slides?

3. Can you bring your own life jackets for your children? Is there anywhere life jackets aren't allowed?

4. How is the food at the water parks?

5. Do you feel comfortable leaving non-valuable items in the chairs, like towels and clothes?

If you can answer any or all of these questions, I would really appreciate it. Thanks!!

1) I haven't been to BB on a Monday that wasn't a holiday, so I can't really answer that. I would assume it is fine.

2) I wear Teva sandals most of the year. I once wore my SCUBA "booties" which are basically aqua socks. I prefer to go barefoot. On many of the slides, the CM will have you take off your shoes and hold them so you do not mark the slide or get stuck.

3) I believe I have seen small children with small life jackets. I am not aware of anywhere that they would not be allowed. I haven't paid too much attention as I don't have small children.

4) Food is decent. Small pizzas, burgers, dogs. BB has a cool ice cream stand. You can get a giant sundae in a plastic bucket.

5) As long as you blantantly stake out your chair, you are fine to leave non-valuable things. I like to hide my refillable mug, just in case.

1. We've found Saturday to be the busiest day. We have annual passes and go frequently. We either go right away as soon as the parks open or after 3pm. If we go early, we make sure to get in lines for the water slides and save the wave pool and lazy River for later. After 3 the crowds really thin out. We prefer any week day early on in the week.

2. I wear water shoes. I haven't been on Summit Plumit, but on all other slides I've been on, I've never been asked to remove my shoes.

3. When my son was small and just learning to swim, we used Disney's life jackets. They are free. All you need is your driver's license or room key.

4. We eat the BBQ sandwich near the pre-teen beach patrol area.

5. We always leave our towels and a cover-up at our chair. Same with a picnic basket or cooler. We get a locker for our money, shoes---so they don't get soggy, and any other valuables.


I don't know what age your kids are, but if they are between the ages of 5-12 (and can swim) I would suggest getting a locker located at the pre-teen area (you still would rent the locker key towards the front of the water park) and a chair there too. My son is 10 and spends most of his time there. He's perfectly happy spending the whole day in this area and forgetting the wave pool and all the other slides.

We love both water parks. We always take/wear our water shoes. Warm weather months, path way too hot for walking. I think in BB the only place you have to take off your water shoes or any other footwear is the Summit Plummit. HTH>

That is funny. It was Slush Gushers that I was asked to remove my shoes on. Maybe it is CM-dependent.

EDIT: Maybe it was at Typhoon Lagoon. Oh well, just beware, they COULD ask you to remove your shoes.

My kids are 2 and 6, so I imagine we will be at the play areas most of the time. Is there a good spot between the "little ones" area and the pre-teen area to serve as our "base?" Thanks again!
