Water park pass or hotel pool

Just wondering if you think a hotel pool (Caribbean Beach) is worth staying for a couple days just for the pool mostly. We are passholders so we come fairly often and are thinking of upgrading our passes to include the water park but wondered if any of the hotel pools were worth the cost for their pool. We will be there with a toddler. We often stay offsite since we come many times over the year.

It's been a while since we've stayed at CBR, but my husband I enjoyed a full day poolside. We were pleasantly surprised that there was poolside drink service ;) the last time we were there was 2009 for our honeymoon, but there were definitely families with littles there for the day having a blast. The pool had great theming. I think that a resort day with pool option may be as fun as a day at the waterparks. The waterparks do have good, age appropriate, activities, but our twins love splashing in a pool as much as anything!

If I were considering a hotel stay for a pool day, I'd do AKL or AoA. They have great areas for kids and AKV has great pool bar just an olive's throw from the kids area LOL

I would upgrade your AP to water parks. We have the water park option and we LOVE going to the water parks and renting one of the umbrella areas and just relaxing all day. I think doing that is more relaxing than the resort pools. Plus you have a safer area to keep all of your belonging if you want to walk around. I have been known to just sit under the umbrella with a coloring book and colored pencils or take a nap.

We love the water parks but not so much with our toddler. We find it more relaxing to stay at the hotel. The CBR is one of the best for toddlers with the huge pirate ship splash pad area. We always spend a couple of resort days at CBR with lots to do - between the pools, beach and playground.

Thanks for your help! We have stayed at Yacht Club for their pool but we didn’t love the room, just the pool. CBR is much cheaper for with our AP rate so thought maybe we would try it for part of our stay but since the water park is only $100 more for the year maybe we will do both.

Stormalong Bay at the Beach Club is worth it. We found CBR to be ridiculously overcrowded when we were there. We ended up using the quiet pool every afternoon and evening when we stayed there. But Stormalong Bay is massive so there’s enough space for everyone to use the water slide, play volleyball in the pool, and float along the lazy river.

We did not enjoy Typhoon Lagoon. The wave pool was a bit much. The big waves had no pattern, and body surfing was tough because we never made it all the way in before a huge wave would nail us crashing over our heads. My sunglasses went flying at one point when I was trying to get to shore. Someone caught them midair and gave them back to me. DD who is a good swimmer got pulled under and swallowed too much water. We got lucky that she didn’t drown.

Typhoon Lagoon’s lazy river is overcrowded with bodies on tubes. It felt more like bumper cars than a relaxing floating experience.

Stormalong Bay was the BEST pool/waterpark for us.

We stayed at CBR when our son was about 4 or 5 and did a "non park day" . He loved the pirate themed splash area at CBR. Waterparks are so hard when they are smaller too because you are basically confined to the "splash area" anyway due to height restrictions.

FWIW we stayed at beach club this year and while we loved Storm Along Bay, I actually prefer CBR’s pirate ship splash pad for my toddlers. I could sit back with a drink and relax while my kids played by the hour in a safe place. The waterslide in the main pool was also much more manageable for my younger kids.

Have taken numerous toddlers to both. I would totally stay at CBR and enjoy the pirate ship pool with the little one. Much less crazy.

Is there a beach area my little guy can dig in at CBR? I know it won’t be “in the pool” like yacht/beach but wondered if I should bring a bucket or if they have the kids meal buckets like storm along bay?

There are lots of beach areas around the resort. When Old Port Royale was open there were kids meal buckets. Not sure what the situation is now that is is closed.

We were there in November and yes, there is a little beach area for your son to play at. It’s just outside of the gated pool area.
