my lovely, wonderful, charming boyfriend has had zero interest in planning our september trip, despite the ample opportunities he's been given over the past three months......until tonight.

now. tonight. suddenly. he wants to help. and by help i mean he wants to go to one of the water parks- AFTER ive already purchased park tickets, plane tickets, ADRs, FP rez,....(good thing he does dishes)

but i THINK??? i can make it work- our flight arrives at 9:30am. i figure we can get to wdw by 11, and if we take an uber to the water park, we can spend the afternoon there. its a thursday afternoon in mid september, so my guess is we arent looking at a huge crowd. since the seasonal pass lets us hit both i figure if he hates/gets bored with the slides at one, we can just uber over to the other for a couple hours.

is my plan crazy sauce? or is it wile e. coyote suuuuppper genius?

I won't say your boyfriend is a genius, but it could work. Just to relax in a lazy river to recover from a flight, sounds perfectly fine.

It's a good way to start slow and not rush into the parks like a maniac.

Time wise, it works. It's just if you feel like going or not after traveling to get there. If not a water park, maybe a stroll in Downtown Disney (which is right across the street from Typhoon Lagoon).

I think it could work. An arrival day is usually a relaxing one for us, so if I was adding a WP, it would be on the first day.

I love it when I get that last minute "suggestions"! My DH never has any requests despite my repeated inquiries. Last trip I planned the whole trip, ADR's and parks and activities. No FP because it was two years ago. ONE WEEK before we leave he tells me he was chatting with "the guys" and they told him that we should book PTC and Sci Fi. Did I know about those two restaurants? LOL! Yes. How do you even tell someone that your Fantasmic dining package was booke 6 months ago, and no.....we are not changing!

It actually sounds like fun!

I understand your planning pain. We just did a DCL cruise that I had booked 16 months in advance. Before I booked, I went over the itineraries of two cruises with DH and "we" chose the one we ended up on (basically, he brushed the whole thing off). While on the cruise, DH heard about the itinerary of the next cruise and asked "why didn't we book THAT one?" AARRGGHHH!

awesome! i love it when a plan comes together!

now for tickets: we have undercover tourist park hoppers for eight days. can we add water parks to those tickets at the gate? (so we dont 'lose' the discount) or do we just buy the water park pass (53 each)?

and for months when i talk about disney- he looks at me like im speaking martian. but this would make him happy, so im all about putting together a plan to make it work.

The only "fly in the ointment" would be weather.... you might want to wait until you get there to make the final decision. I think it sounds like a great plan, if the weather doesn't co-operate you can hit DTD.

ooooh- yes. also a good point. i have never been in september, but ive read that around 3pm, mother nature turns all of orlando into a water park anyway.

so doing tickets at the gate is probably our best bet either way.

I believe buying 1 WP day is cheaper than adding the WP and more option.
But, if you did want to add the WP option the one sticky wicket is you have to use the ticket once to keep the discount so you'd need to enter a park first. Seeing as what you are taking about doing is before you go to a park I don't think it will allow you to keep the discount. You'd have to also end up adding a day, which will increase your costs again.

okay, i hope my math and logic on this are right :)

we purchased ut 8 day park hoppers (417$) and once we swipe at the park they will be worth their face value of 435$, right?

we are staying at wl, so if weather looked favorable we could possibly drop our luggage, grab our prepacked water park bags, pop over to mk on the boat, swipe our bands, and enter the park. once we enter we can buy an extra day and water parks (face value 473$). and then head to the water park. (i would estimate 45 min to an hour for this detour)

so the face value difference between the 8 day ph (after we enter) and the 9 day ph+wp is 38 each, and thats the upgrade we would pay.

do i have the logic right on this?

Sounds about right to me. In your case adding a day and WP is cheaper than just buying a WP ticket
Though, make sure of something, since you mention hopping to both water parks.
Someone else hopefully knows this for sure but I believe that means using 2 WP options.
The whole WP and PH and such gets convoluted and I can never keep it clear.
Check with someone here (Robo maybe?) to be sure you could go to both WP with your 8 day WP and More PH Ticket.
I know for certain you can use the 1 day WP ticket at both WP. When you add on to the regular tickets is when it gets fuzzy for me
