Water Park Newbies - Help!

We are planning on going to Typhoon Lagoon on the Monday before Thanksgiving. Our kids are 8 and 11 and will go on all the slides.

We’ve never took them to a water park (and I haven’t been to one in 30 years!).

Do you usually rent a towel when your arrive? If so, what do you do with it as you’re on the slides?

Any other tips or touring strategies?

If you are staying onsite the towel is free. We leave the towels on chairs near the wave pool.

You'll love Typhoon Lagoon, it's awesome! As noted, you can leave your towel on your chair if you want, that's what most people do.

Keep in mind that there is no FP+ for water parks, at least not yet. So hit the big slides first. At TL, that would be Humunga Kowabunga, Crush Gusher, Miss Adventure Falls. The first hour the park is open, you will be able to get on these as many times as you want with minimal wait. Same with the hour before the park closes.

There are stairs...lots and lots of stairs. Be prepared to climb them.

The wave pool is a-m-a-z-i-n-g, just make sure you're a good swimmer if you go in beyond your waist.

We found that we often prefer waterparks over the major theme parks. TL is great!

Yes as klayfish stated...big slides first. I suggest Miss Adventure first...then crush n gusher. Then Kowabubga. We never even use a chair or towel until we leave the park. There is so much to do.

Try the mini doughnuts.

We always arrive before park opens to rent a locker. Then wait at entryway to the section of the park in which we are headed for “rope drop” (which is not earlier than posted time from our experiences).

The weather isn't always perfect in November, so have a backup plan just in case.

Towel? Who needs a towel? We're always so busy going from slide to slide to wave pool to lazy river that we don't have time (or the need) to dry off. You're just going to get wet again!

Ok, ditto to ever single one of these posts. Except the one about no towel—I do dry off when I want to go eat or hit the restroom.

I would recommend at least taking some sort of water shoes, even if it’s just flip flops. The concrete can be scorching (although maybe not in November), and depending on how tough your feet are, the roughness and/or just unsupported arches on all those steps could give you sore feet by the end of the day.

And if you only take ONE piece of advice from this thread.....make it the mini donuts!!! @PrincessP
