Water park expirations with passes?

I seem to recall a few years back that once your pass was activated the only part that lasted with no expiration were the parks. The water parks were only good for 7 days from the time your ticket was first used. Is it still the same way? I am trying to decide whether or not to purchase the park hopper or park hopper plus tickets. Thanks for your help.

We have annual passes, but my sister purchased a park hopper plus in 2001 when she visited us and we spent a week at POR in June. Last year, she returned for a visit and we spent another week at POR. We had much discussion about the type of pass she should purchase and we opted for just a four day park hopper because we knew that we would spend at least one day resting at the resort and one day at one of the Water Park and she could use the PH+ from the previous year. The water park days had not expired when we went to Blizzard Beach.

Old (approx. 1998 and before) hopper plus passes had unlimited water park usage within the first seven days.

New hopper plus passes have a small finite number of water park days that do not expire. Example: Four day hopper plus pass has two "plusses". It would let you go into theme parks for four days and into one water park (or Pleasure Island) on a fifth day* and admit you to the same or the other water park or PI on a sixth day*. Going to PI and a water park or going to both water parks on the same day consumes two plusses.

Going to Pleasure Island twice in less than a week? Think about the five more consecutive nights for five more dollars option offered with a single admission ticket on some dates, as opposed to using the plusses from your hopper pass.
