Water park and sports winter question

I’m planning a trip in the winter and I know sometimes it can be too cold for water parks to open (happened at another place this past winter). If I get the water park and sports add on or park hopper plus, and the water parks do not open due to weather, can I get the ticket downgraded or will Disney say you could have gone golfing and I’m out of luck (my gut tells me I’ll be out of luck). Thanks

If you are unsure whether you will want to use those plus options, I would wait to add it once you are there. WDW will not refund it once purchased because you have other options besides the water parks — mini golf or Oak Trail golf.
