I plan to fly with about 300 lb of water on my family trip to wdw in a few day. with all of the trouble of no liquides on carry on will this much water be a problem for checked. BTW all luggage will be under the weight limit and have enough to stay under the 2 checked per person.
TIA

Can I be completely naive here and ask why you need to bring water? Just curious...

Are you sure on not exceeding all the limits? You know each passenger is allowed two checked bags; in addition, depending on the airline your weight-per-bag limit would be 50 or 70 pounds per bag.
With a 70 pound limit, you'd have to use five pieces of luggage just for the water; 50 pounds would require six bags - all in addition to whatever each of the five or six minimum persons would be bringing.

Why not just buy the water when you arrive? Stop on the way to Disney, or if you're using DME rent a car for a day, or take a taxi to a store, or use a delivery service.

Sorry, taking 300 lbs of anything is a bit too much to my mind.

I don't know if the weight restriction is the same for all planes, but Southwest only allows 50lbs. Why do you need to bring so much water? They have some convenience stores and a Walmart close to WDW. You could always stop there on your way to the hotel to avoid bringin so much with you. What happens if it should burst open for some reason. YoOu know how they throw around the baggage. I would be nervous to bring all that with me.

I have to second kaytieeldr's suggestion of a grocery stop with a town car, rent a car for a brief period to make a grocery run, or have water delivered. 300 lbs of water is a LOT of water and weight. Something goes wrong and some of the bottles bust open, your clothes and other passengers' things will get wet.

Everyone, I know this can be a touchy subject on this board and has been discussed many times, but can we give the OP the benefit of the doubt? Thanks. :)

Out of pure curiosity, how many bottles of water total are you looking at taking?

Sounds like about twelve cases of 24 half-liter bottles, but that't not taking into account the weight of the actual bottles. Eleven cases, maybe?

Just a little suspect myself on the OP. 300 Lbs. of water translates to roughly 10 - 12 (24 packs of 16.9 oz bottles). PLus, the name looks
like it was hijacked. :stir:

I think I feel a little sea-sick or perhaps water-logged...... :faint:

Party size is 6 people that is 2 checked 50lb bags on DELTA which leaves a max of 600LB and 12 Bags so it is only half of the max weight we can bring. DME is being used. the Cost of the water was only $30 which is 140 28oz bottles of water for 10 days at WDW. That is about 2.33 bottles per person per day. One between breakfast and lunch, one between lunch and dinner, and a little left between dinner and the end of the day. Now Water at disney is about $2 that would be $280, a taxi or car rental and purchase at a walmart would cost about $75 and a few hours out of our trip. Last year we had 150LB for 6 day trip and 5 people. Have never had a leak or a breakage problem since all bottles are packed well. So will TSA have any problems with that much water in TODAYS Enviroment. Second are battieres ok for carry on????
TIA

Sorry, I don't think that this is a good plan. You can arrange to have water shipped via netgrocer.com etc, or delivered via Gardengrocer.com etc. The water may alert a screener if it goes through a checked luggage scanner; the water may freeze and burst; or it just may leak.

You may not mind, but I certainly don't want to be flying on the plane with you and risk getting my things soaked.

Yes, I know that it's a sensitive topic here, but I will still give the same response I give every time.

netgrocer.com would be abou $200 for the same volume of water
Again I have never had a break or a leak, I place all of the water in bags, in cardboard in plastic. For my stuff and any others to get wet a bag would have alot happen to cause problems or discomfort to anyone.

Hey, if you are saving money, go for it...I just wouldn't go through all of that work for water...I realize you are saving about $250...but whew...that is a lot of heavy suitcases. :faint:

Don't know how the restrictions might affect you...I have never packed water before and haven't flown since the new bans went into effect.

Good luck and have fun :goodvibes

The estimate another poster gave was 144 litres. It is a waste to the environment to buy that many small bottles (288) Why not have larger ie 2 litre bottles delivered and refill the small bottles, doing both your fellow travellers and Mother Nature a favour. 1 gallon of water at gardengrocer.com is $1.19. At 38 gallons that would cost $45.22 for the water plus a $10 delivery fee.

Just because your water didn't leak in past doesn't mean that it will in future.

Sorry, I don't consider you thrifty or smart, but rather selfish and inconsiderate of your fellow travellers. You may consider that harsh, but whoever ends up with the soaked luggage won't even have any recourse for compensation as nobody will know that your water was at fault.

Someone posted about having Staples ship bottled water to their resort. Shipping was free. I think it may have been on the budget board. (Sorry, I don't know how to search). No way would I carry all that water with me.

We ordered 2 cases of water (48 bottles) for under $12 from Staples and it was delivered for free. We ordered it a few days before we arrived to Pop Century and it was there when we checked in. :drinking1

The water will freeze in the luggage hold once the flight is in the air and burst the bottles. Once the plane descends to an altitude where the outside temperature is above freezing, the ice will melt and soak all of the poster's luggage. So instead of saving money, the OP will have wasted $30, gone through the hassle of lugging water to the airport, and potentially created a TSA security check.

Trust me, I have lugged several gallons of water to WDW in a carry-on (in the past of course!) and all I can say is NEVER AGAIN!

Staples is a Good idea. BTW how did you get free shipping on a $12 order min order is $50 for free delivery and what deliver info do i need to get it to the resort All-star Movies.

As far as freezzing and breaking. We live in the cold of NY and i keep a case or two in my trunk all winter long and have never had a bottle bust or break. Now the part about it causing condensation could be a problem, but one that i have not noticed. and since my clothes and items were all dry and packed in the same bag i must assume that no condensation affected mine or any one elese luggage.
