Depart for our first Fort Wilderness (and first on-site stay ever) a week from tomorrow (3/20). I've seen several photos today of empty campsites with a waterhose attached to the spigot. Should I still still bring my own? (Doing the tent thing) Would save me space in and on the Yukon if I dont...thanks.

The hose you see in the pics is a xtra watering hose,,used mostly for spraying off the site. I would bring my own hose for drinking water,,,never know bout them renegade hoses.

I wouldn't use a hose that I don't know where it's been! Rinsing out a black tank!!?

The hose at our campsite in January had no connection. It was used by CM to wash down the site after we left.

I have seen people put that hose into there black tank.

The ones they have at the sites are not safe for drinking. Usually the safe ones are white and labeled "safe for drinking water." Most RV and camping stores carry the white drinking water hose. Although I think I purchased ours at Lowes. Green garden hoses contain lead and not protected against bacterial growth. Just make sure it's labeled "safe for drinking."

If you find yourself an ice machine that doesn't work, the extra ice in the tray usually melts in the florida heat and leaves a fair amount of water for drinking. I usually let the Wonder Beagle have first dibs at it, then push him aside and I go to town.

You don't want to know where Rog puts that hose when he stays there. I sure don't want to touch it afterward.

:sad2: Ken, Ken, Ken...you really need to stop making these wild hoe-moe-erotic fantasies up about me!!! (and besides...I was INSIDE MY TENT...are you stalking me with binoculars or something???);)

Oh brother!

So, the point is.....DON"T USE THE DARN HOSES ON SITE!!! Bring your own, or use at your own risk!!!:scared1: It sounds to me like they need to be burned at this point.

Which reminds me. Anybody seen those undercover stories where different areas around a hotel room are tested for.....germy-ness? Just what do people use those hairdryers for, anyway? :scared1:

They don't need to be gotten rid of, they were never intended to be used for drinking water, that is why there are no connections on the ends of these hoses and that there are two faucets available at each site. The hoses come in very handy for cleaning around the site as well as what ever the CM's need them for after someone leaves.

Ok...so...tent campers...do you bring your own hoses so that you have water to drink at your site? I'm a newbie tent camper...I need to learn these things! And I never knew that about the green hoses--the lead thing! I learn a LOT on this board! ::yes::

Bring Beer or Rum you don't bring your own hose.:rotfl2: ..Frank

We took our own hose on our stay in March, since we had a foldable sink/work station we got at Sam's Club. Piece of advice...make sure you "treat" the hose (I think I saw baking soda will do the trick) or run water through it a couple of times to get that wonderful "vinyl" taste out of if it. And thanks for the warning on the "green" hoses everybody...I told DW and DK's to avoid it like the plague.

I agree with VACAMPER........A couple of gallons of bottled water . FL water leaves a little to be desired, no offense FL residents.
