Water Globes

Okay, so I have a question about souvenir shopping. On past trips I always bought at least on Disney water globe. However, since we will be flying this time, I'm wondering if that would be such a good idea. I collect them and have almost 50 right now.

Can I have them shipped to my home after we leave? Would it be a problem to take them on the airplane with me? I've been racking my brain trying to find an answer, but couldn't. If anyone shares my passion for them any advice is welcome!

You can not take a "snow globe" on an airplane. Ship it home. Generally UPS will take three to four days so wait until you last day or two and ship it then. Most Disney gift stores offer shipping but you can take it to one of the resort business centers to ship it yourself.

I bought a snow globe at christmas for my oldest daughter as a gift because she collects them and was taken out of line at the airport because they are not allowed on the plane. There is a disney store at the airport thankfully, and I wad able to ship it home for like 15 bucks. It was very emarassing and extremely inconvenient. Hopefully this helps. Good luck and have fun!

go in checked luggage. They fall afoul of the three ounce liquid limit for carry-ons. From the TSA site:

TSA does not permit snow globes through the security checkpoint because they contain an undetermined amount of liquid. Snow globes are permitted in checked baggage.

We live in Minnesota, have a son that collects snow globes. We've never had one break in checked baggage - just bubble wrap and/or surround with laundry, and it will be shock-protected and freeze-protected during the flight.

No worries.

We bought my daughter a very cool snow globe at WDW over Christmas. We simply kept it in the original packaging, wrapped it in a hotel towel, put it in our checked luggage in between all our clothes and it arrived safe.

You can not take it as a carry on item.

If you already know you are going to purchase this item, take some bubble wrap down with you. I am going to purchase some glasses, so I kept the boxes I have from Arribas Brothers (Christmas gift) and I am taking those down with bubble wrap and tissue paper so I can get more!

If you forget, the people in your Disney Resort gift shop can give you items to pack your snow globe with. If you purchase a beach towel, this would also be a good way to protect your snow globe in your luggage.

It's easier to just have them ship it. It doesn't cost that much to have them ship them and if they ship it, they do not charge you sales tax for some reason. Plus if it gets broken in shipping, they will replace it for free.

I hadn't thought of that... That would make opting for shipping more of a no-brainer.

It also lets you have "gifts" arriving by mail after you've returned from vacation. That's a double win!

If I buy any, I ship them home. It's much easier on me. I actually ship home most of the souveniers I buy unless they are small if I fly.

I've been trying to buy most of my stuff in one or two places since so much is the same no matter what store you are in except for some of the stores in AK and DTD.
