Where are the fountains located in the 4 major parks? Will they be listed on a map? I am bringing refillable bottles for the first time. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I would strongly suggest getting cups of ice water from CS before resorting to water fountains. It tastes so much better. I fill my bottle with free ice water from the counters. It isn't an unusual request, they are used to doling out cup after cup. I posted on another thread about the mother who was washing her child's feet in the water fountain in WDW on our last trip. :crazy2:

You can get free ice water at any counter service location. I don't use the coffee pots in the hotels for the same reason as the gross stuff that goes on in the water fountains.

In addition to asking for cups of ice water at counter service locations, many table service restaurants have a cooler of water with cups sitting in the lobby, for the use of guests. You can walk in and grab a cup or two even if you are not checking in for that restaurant. I did that last week at Mama Melrose.

Also, a couple of counter service places have self-service drink stations, which have a water option you can use even if you are not making a purchase. Backlot Express in DHS, and Electric Umbrella and Sunshine Seasons at Epcot come to mind. BOG also has them, but it would be awkward at best and possibly not allowed at all to walk in to use them without having lunch or breakfast there.

I use the water fountains a lot as it takes time to go to a counter service place and get the free water and the fountains are out and free.

Fountains are usually located near restrooms (sometimes near the entrances). That's the first place I would look. But I find the fountains fairly frequently so not a big deal for me.

Generally you'll find water fountains near bathrooms (sometimes not right outside the bathrooms, but close by). They are NOT on a map.

And often the water is warm from the water fountains. Still, they worked just fine in a pinch when there wasn't a QS place for water immediately nearby (or the lines were too long).

We use the water fountains all the time to refill our water bottles. I'm sure there are much germier places at WDW than the water fountains. It would be nice if they had water bottle fillers like some airports are getting now, but I won't hold my breath waiting for those!

I remember watching a show about the design of water fountains and how it has changed over the years (yes, I watch some odd stuff), and with the way they are designed you would have to place your mouth onto the metal to pick up any germs. Does anyone remember the old school type that used to shoot straight up? Those were germy, as the water went from your mouth back onto the place where it sprays out. That is why now the water arches out.

They really do need to fix the cooling systems in many of their drinking fountains.
Some produce water that is nice and cold, but from many, it comes out luke warm.

They can cool all they want but if a fountain is in the direct sun for most of the day (there are several around World Showcase like this), the water will be warm. But "warm" can mean just not icy cold. It's not blazing hot.

Also - you can fill your water bottles from inside the bathrooms at the sinks. Those places are never in the sun.

Last week when I was there the water pressure in most fountains was horrendous and the fountains were useless.

Me too. I find that the water spout at the fountain does a much better job of cleaning the space between my toes! :crazy2:

I wouldn't say hilarious, I would say obnoxious. But even so, I don't think it would affect the water coming out of the spout later if some obnoxious people used the fountain that way.

Great suggestions as well as some funny replies. Thanks. I bought two oxo leak proof water bottles. I will try to fill as we go. Thanks again need to keep dd hydrated to prevent fainting

The first time we went with kids in August I was convinced we were all going to dehydrate. I found it very easy to stay hydrated and comfortable. Have a great trip!
