Has anyone ever used a generic water filter for the fridge? The GE water filter is so expensive. I have found some generic ones but not much info or reviews on them. TIA.

I just switched from the MWF to a generic one last week. The prices were just too much. $40 for the GE, less than $20 for the generic. According to one review I read, these are only certified to remove taste, odor and particulates, where the GE units also designed to reduce specific health-related contaminants. Our drinking water is safe, so I'll take my chances.
