Water bottle question

Will quick service restaurants and snack kiosks fill my water bottle with free water and ice, or do they only fill up disposable cups? Is the free water good tasting or is it like the water fountain water I've heard many people dislike?

Trying to decide on bringing my regular water bottle or buying one of the filtering kind.

Anyone have recommendations for a brand and model of filtering water bottle they like?

Thanks!

They will only fill up their cups. I've heard it has to do with allowing for non "clean" items into a food prep area. The water is the same that they use for fountain drinks. I always just bring a Sigg or Nalgene bottle with me, I've never bothered with a filter.

We brought the Britta bottles with the filter because we weren't sure if we would like the taste of the water. We used the filter part for the first few days and then it got lost in the shuffle some how. We never noticed a bad taste, it did taste a bit different from home water but not so awful that you didn't want to drink it.

You also can't take the disposable cups onto rides, but you can take a water bottle that is closed.

I never thought the water from any of the fountains in the parks tasted bad - certainly not the sulfur taste some people have described. One exception - the fountain on Tom Sawyer's island. By our 3rd trip we weren't taking water bottles to the parks at all, just drinking from fountains and requesting the occasional cup of ice water from quick service.

Get the water in the cup, pour it into your water bottle. The fountain water smells/tastes weird to me, but the fountain water is fine. (Yes, it's a waste of the cup but I'm sure there are liability issues with them touching your bottle.)

I take a filtered bottle and fill it from the fountains, I can't stand the tap water taste in the parks, it is like sulfur. Although it was fine at YC and AKL, it was awful at GF for teeth brushing. I usually ask for a glass of water with my other beverage and dump that into my bottle. Free water, nicely filtered to taste like nothing.

Even if their water tasted fine, I would bring a fillable bottle. Water fountains aren't always around, especially at AK, and in the heat water is important. It might be warm, but if I need it,mI have it at hand.

We always bring a filtered water bottle. The brand we use is Bobble from target I think. It's never leaked and it's very lightweight. Sometimes we add kool aid single packets or ice tea drink mix packets if in the mood for flavor. They're convenient to have awhile waiting in lines. We've also used it to filter the water to put in the coffee makers. I also suggest buying an extra filter/top in case if you need a fresh one towards the end of your stay.

When we did the 1900 PF breakfast at the GF, I asked for water with my breakfast and it had that smell/taste. It was the only restaurant where I asked for water where I couldn't drink it.

Most CS will give you a cup. There are also a number of CC with self serve soda fountains. Those you can just walk up to.

I carry a wide mouth bottle so I can fill it myself without it touching the spigot. (Water and ice are not locked by the RFID system) I have a neoprene sleeve with a clip on it so it can hang from my belt loop or backpack.

I hate having to carry around a sweaty cup and I prefer to sip consistently rather then get thirsty, get a cup, chug the water, throw away water when going on a ride, repeat.

We don't bring filter bottles, we bring Contigos with clips on them. We ask for 3 waters at mealtimes and refill with ice water, or refill at the self serve machines. While out in the parks we use the fountains. No bad taste at all

I always cringe when I see someone drinking from a "baby bidet". And yes, I've seen them in action.

I worked at a large Midwestern amusement park one summer as this exact issue evolved. We started the summer being able to fill water bottles then when the powers that be realized that was killing our bottled water sales it disappeared. Then we even were only allowed to give out tinier and tinier water cups. By the end of the season people were practically getting mouthwash cups. In an enormous park where the water fountains were not good or even cooled. Needless to say I did not return to that job.
It's the little things that make me happy to go to Disney and not that specific large Midwestern park.

I used the Britta water bottle on my last two trips, and it worked great. I would just ask for some ice water from a quick service location if I needed it, otherwise I just used the water fountains. I didn't notice an off taste at all, but I used the filter the whole time because in the past I've noticed a bit of a taste to the tap water. I usually describe it as "beach" lol! I'm spoiled with really great tap water where I live, so it might not be anything noticeable to most people.

About ten years ago, Animal Kingdom sold "refillable" drink cups in the park. No, it didn't last long but my husband's aunt bought one and it was cute with an animal head as the top. I won't go into the aunt's personality but she thought she had scored a bargain with this and was going to refill it as many times as she could in that day. She went to get her first refill and it was free but given to her in a paper cup. She was livid! She want HER refillable cup refilled and refilled right then and there. The Cast Member explained it was due to safety concerns and they had no idea where her refillable cup had been and they couldn't bring it into their area for the refill. The aunt angrily grabbed the paper cup and dumped the liquid into her cup and then loudly screamed, "this is a rip-off!". That was the last refill she got that day since "they don't really refill it".

We started squeezing water through our filtered bottles to brush at night. I forgot the hotel water was bad on my next stay and drank some from the tap at YC and was surprised it was fine. Either something changed between visits or something is wrong at GF.
