I just wondered, i had read on the internet somewhere :surfweb: that you could fill up empty water bottles at water fountains in 1 or all of the Disney parks. Is this correct?

My boyfriend and I didn't want to buy bottles in the park as I have heard they are quite expensive but at the same time, didn't want to be carrying heavy bottles in our bag around the park. :sad2:

Yes there are water fountains everywhere. You can also ask at any of the food outlets for cups of water

So we would be ok to take empty bottles in and just fill them up? I was worried that if they did a bag check on us when we went in, they might take the empty bottles off us.

Thats good to know then :thumbsup2

We always take a full bottle to start and then refill as we go, never have any questions. I understand a lot of people also take snacks and even sandwiches and no questions about it.

the water is pretty horrid out of the fountains unless it is VERY cold! On that note make sure you find a fountain that is in the shade as the temp of each fountain vaires a lot as does the angle of the spout of water! We alway take a bottle in with us and refil it.:thumbsup2

I didn't mind the taste of the water fountain water, but once I found out that the counter service resturants will give you a cup of ice water for free I stopped taking a water bottle with me at all.

Brita also make individual sport top water bottles that have a brita filter in it. They are $8.49/regular price at Target. I plan on buying 2 of these before our trip. I was contemplating bringing a case of water, but the extra weight, and storage it would require in our luggage...$17.00 for 2 nice new bottles is better spent.

We used Brittas and they did work.

One tip, unless they redesigned the bottles, remove that ring thing from around the larger cap. For our bottles, and a few others that have posted, they keep the larger cap from screwing down tightly.

Also Wal mart sells insulated sleeves in the camping section that work great. It doesn't really insulate well but it can keep it from sweating on you and it has a carabiner clip. You want the larger one.

These are also available at Amazon.com. They are 15.88 for a two pack. Free shipping if you spend over $25. :goodvibes

We also take those individual packets of Crystal Light or Wylers, lemonade/iced tea/raspberry.

If you don't want to wait in line for the free cup of ice water, it makes the fountain water better. Though the fountain water isn't that terrible on it's own. Not as good as bottled of course, but not like swamp water or anything!

We brought collapsible water bottles when we went last September so we could fill them up at the fountains. The water did have a noticeably different taste that we could have handled, but it was always lukewarm and that was gross!!

I would suggest getting a cup of water from the QS restaurants.

We fill our water bottles with ice (not water) at the resort and then get cups of ice at the counter service restaurants to refill. It doesn't take long for the ice to start melting. The melted ice tastes much better than the drinking water from the fountains.
We used to use Crystal Light packets, but have switched to Mio. You can add as little or as much as you want. When we used the drinking fountain to refill, we found that we needed 1 and a half packets of Crystal Light to disguise the taste of water - with the Mio we just squirt in as much flavor as we need.
And yes, those insulating jackets are great for water bottles - especially if you fill them with ice. Otherwise, the condensation can get you or whatever you put bottle in quite wet.

Thanks for the info. I have bought my Brita bottles but I am cutting and pasting your suggestions as we speak

We often go into the counter service restaurants that have the fill your own pop machines. They all have the little water button on the machine. We use that to fill our water bottles.

Before some one asks, there are very few of these.

I think I have this right but,

There is none in the MK.

electric Umbrella in Epcot, maybe sunshine seasonings, none that i can think of in WS

Backlot express in DHS

And not sure in AK

I think its also been mentioned but if you ask at a normal CS counter they will give you a cup of water, they will not take your bottle and fill it.

Thanks for all the great advice folks :thumbsup2

Very useful! I wish all you folks could come and help me sort out the rest of our trip :worship:
