Are there ample water fountains. I'm not sure about lugging a bunch of water bottles with me all day.

Here's what I'm thinking. By the way, Nov. will be our first trip, so some of our ideas may be a bit unrealistic. That's why I count on you pro's to tell me how it is.

First of all, how does the water taste at the hotel (we are staying at POP) and the parks?

Second, if we have the refillable mugs from the resort, can't I just get water from the fountain? Will it be cold or will it be warm and nasty?

Thanks for the input.

The resort mug will not fit under most of the water fountains so that idea is rather hard to do. The water from the fountains does tend to be warm and nasty at first. Just let the water run for about 1 minute and it should get cold with an improved taste.

IMO, the water tastes funny. I am a big water drinker and I don't usually don't require that it be bottled. BUT, I just can't drink the water in Florida. My DH who is originally from Florida agrees. Since I love ice water, the water would never be cold enough out of the fountain for me, but my DH says it is fine.

I have never had a problem with getting water at the park and the taste was fine. I almost never buy drinks in the park. There are fountains all over.

I can't stand the water..... I also dont' like to lug full bottles around, so I compromised and got a filter bottle. It stays empty until I need it. Any CS place will give you free ice water or you can fill it partway using the water fountains. Once it goes thru that filter, the water tastes as good as bottled. :)

I agree the water from the fountains is quite nasty, but is ok in small doses if you need it but really on a budget I feel its worth paying for bottled.

I'm not a bottled water person, what ever comes out of the ground or lake is fine for me. We've beendrinking Disney fountain and resort water since 1977, and no ill effects. In the parks, let it run, look for the fountains that are refridgerated. We drink tap water while at the resort, use and chill with Disney ice. Its all immateriaal, or in your head, water was always fine long ago before someone came up with the bottled water scenerio. Now, people can't leave the house without a bottle of water with them, like they are going to die of thirst before they get to where they're going. CNN had a special on bottled water and most is no different, or better for you or taste better than average tap water but people have made it a booming business.

I'm sorry. I have to respectfully disagree. I drink water out of the tap at home and at restaurants, but the water in Florida does taste funny to me. My husband lived there for 18 years and said the same thing after he went back to visit. I'm all for regular tap water, but I can't drink it there.

I'm with you. I dont' filter WDW water for any real health concerns, but for the taste - and I do drink tap water at home and don't buy bottled. Tap water does indeed taste different in different places, depending on what trace elements and such are in it. Someone mentioned WDW water as being more sulfurous than what they were used to at home and that makes sense to me. WDW water isn't going to kill me, but it sure tastes awful to me. Personal opinion and tastes, ymmv. :)

All tap water tastes weird to me because I was raised on well water. But the water at Disney is fine to me. I bought a hard plastic "sport bottle" with a wide mouth at target and filled it with ice from the ice maker at POP in the morning and added water through out the day. It was not bad carrying it around and if we added anything to our backpack we could dump the water w/o feeling bad we could also clip ot to the outside to make more room inside. If you are not picky you will be ok with the water there

Florida water does have a very sulphorous taste and smell, however, I drink it anyway. We will buy the occasional bottled water, and then refill the bottle as needed.

The water fountains are all over, but a lot of them aren't refrigerated.

There was drinking fountains outside of each bathroom location throughout Disney property. You can also ask for a cup of ice water at any restaurant or fast-food counter (it's free).

Opinions vary on this, mostly according to where you come from. people from the north and west tend to think WDW water has a funny taste; this is because water in that part of the country has a higher sulfur content than other parts of the country. Other folks, especially from the Southeast, are used to it and don't notice it at all. To me, Disney water is not great, but it's better than the water off-site, which is far worse.

The drinking fountains at Disney don't have much pressure; they usually don't shoot the water high enough to fill a resort mug.

Most of the drinking fountains in teh parks are no more than slightly cooled by my standards. It's not warm, but it's not really cold, either.

I got a great idea from the DIS last year, before my trip in October. I hate to carry around a heavy, clunky water bottle too. I lived in Florida and agree that the tap water from the fountains tastes different (some people don't mind it, but others dislike the taste).

Anyways, my solution was to ask for a large cup of ice water from any counter service restaurant. They provide it free of charge (even if you're not buying a meal at that time). You get good tasting, ice-cold water, and don't have to carry around a bottle. (I have only tried this at a slower time of year, and didn't have to wait in line long - plus, since it wasn't very hot, I wasn't drinking as much water as I would have during a hot, humid time of year.) Worked great for me!

I can't seem to find any of the filter bottles. Does anyone know if they are sold in the Wal-Marts in the Fort Meyers area. My sister will be joining us after visiting relatives and is planning to go to WM. I could have her get me one or 2. Idea of $$$.
