Watching wishes while eating Ohana, or the beach??

Which would you chose?

would you eat while wishes was going on hoping to cop a good table, or would you eat earlier and head for the beach at the poly to catch the fireworks?

I haven't watched from the beach, but I think it would be nice!

We arrived for our ADR at 'Ohana last year just before Wishes began (we didn't even know...) and the hostess came and grabbed us right away and told us to hurry and she'd get us a great table for fireworks. She zipped us around the restaurant to a table in front of the windows and as soon as we sat down the show began. Pretty cool. They pipe in the music, and I'm pretty sure they dimmed the lighting too, but I can't be certain of that.

My luck i'd be across the restaurant and not be able to see. It will be our first view of wishes too

We had a hard time deciding this very issue... we decided to do an earlier ADR at 'Ohana and then head to the beach for Wishes! That way we can hang out there and see the Electrical Water Pageant (a first for us!).

Well I believe it all depends how quiet you want it. The beach is more secluded, while the restaurant is more loud. Although, Ohanna does have the music pipe in and the lights dimned. We have an ADR for Ohanna a half hour before wishes. I have been on the beach to watch but it is just a bit more difficult to see just because of the island that sits inbetween the poly and the MK. Really its up to you. Have dinner one night at Ohanna and another night just sit on the beach. Either way you cannot go wrong.

personally i say look for a good table in tomorowland or sumthing cause it will be a more sentimental area to watch them in

I didnt even know you could see wishes from ohana. Gasp. All this time. I have been on these boards. And where, and when is the EWP. Ive heard of it but dont know a thing about it. Is it really nice? TIA

When we went in May , my mom stayed with my dd's while DH and i enjoyed a nice dinner together at O'Hana. We were seated facing the castle and i thought it was such a beautiful view. While we were being served dessert, we didn't know that we were also going to have another awesome treat. All of a sudden the music stopped in the restuarant and the soundtrack to WISHES started playing. OH , it was so wonderful!!

We went to O'hana our first night in feb. we had ended up going to MK before and forgot about Wishes. We had a room in the main dining room because of the dining plan. We had a great view of the castle. Then wishes started. It was perfect timing because then our food came out.

Ok, now I have to try to get ADR;s at Ohana's and cancel the other plan...changes again! Where do we go to see the eletrical light on the water?

We've watched the EWP from Poly Beach several times. Sometimes after Wishes. Here's the schedule from allearsnet.com

Polynesian Resort -- 9 p.m.
Grand Floridian -- 9:15 p.m.
Wilderness Lodge -- 9:35 p.m.
Fort Wilderness -- 9:45 p.m.
Contemporary Resort -- 10:05 p.m.
Magic Kingdom -- 10:20 p.m. (only during extended MK park
hours)

Note that when the Magic Kingdom Fireworks are scheduled for 9 p.m., the Electrical Water Pageant runs about 7-20 minutes later.

although I think the EWP is nice, particularly if you happen to be at one of those resorts, I wouldn't make a special trip just to see it.

I just remember it from being a child and want to see it again and share with my children. I will try to get a dinner at one of the resorts and then see it again.

The only problem with PLANNING to see the fireworks from Ohana- while we were there, a big rainstorm had just finished, so the windows were fogged over and it was impossible to see out...the music was still piped in, but our server really seemed disappointed for us that our view was ruined. I hadn't even realized that they could be seen from Ohana, so I wasn't that upset...

I took my OH frothe first time last year, I had planned eating at 'Ohana and then going to the beach, but we had to wait for the table and then we took out time eating, so we watched it from the resturant, as far as OH was concerned it was perfect!

if wishes are at 10, what time would you make your ADR for??? Right now ours is at 8:45 (we're eating lunch late so eating that late wouldn't be a problem, I just want to make sure we're there during wishes). I figure a lil wait to be seated then we'll just take our time eating, does that sound about right?

I changed mine to 7:45, i think that is perfect for a 9pm wishes. I think your about where we are. I figure atleast 15 minute wait for a seat, drag dinner for an hour or less, then eat dessert while watching wishes yeah!
