I just booked us on the Feb 7 Wonder sailing... and DH informed me that is the day of the SuperBowl... he obviously doesn't want to miss the game, and I don't want to cancel the cruise... so, I want to reassure him that he will be able to watch the game in a pub or someplace fun (other than our stateroom) on board the ship.

Can anyone who's been on one of the ships during the SuperBowl tell me what our options are? What time is the safety drill and the Adventures Away party? Will they conflict with kick-off?

Thanks so much!

Jennifer

The safety drill is at 4 and noone will be able to stay in the sports club to watch any pregame stuff. The early dinner is at 5:45 with the 8:30 show and the early show is at 6:30 with dinner at 8:15. I know that on the Magic formal night is switched to Monday to avoid a conflict with the Superbowl. Tell your DH to expect to watch it either in the club or on the Dumbotron on deck 9.

As long as the satellite system is working, the Super Bowl being shown is a gimme.
We cruised on New Year's day, and they had all the bowl games on.
Where you run into problems is during the regular season, where YOUR favorite team might not be EVERYONE's favorite team, so you game may be the one not to be show, espeically with College Football.

The Super Bowl is shown on the giant screen outside. It is the greatest feeling in the world being in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean watching your favorite team win the Super Bowl on a giant screen on the top deck of a beautiful cruise ship. GO STEELERS!!!!!!!

I'm sorry, but if I'm on a cruise, the last thing I care about seeing is a football game. :confused3

During the 2008 game, I was on the Wonder. Not only do they show it on the ariel view television, they host a full blown buffet! BBQ Ribs, Burgers, Hot Dogs, etc were served. It was yummy!

Now the buffet I could get into. :banana:Who cares about the game!

We were on the Magic last year. We're not into football, but it was a big deal on the ship. I'm not sure if you'll be able to read the navigator clearly, but I'm posting it in case. It says it was shown on the Arielview and the promenade lounge for families. Plus, it was in diversions for people over 18. (at least I think that's what it says - I swear I'm going blind as I get older. I'm having a hard time reading the small type.):rotfl2:

Superbowl onthe ship is great. They have lots of prizes and that week for every miller lite you buy you get your chance to win a tv. They pay for the shipping. They have ice sculptures and a huge cake. One year i went to the dining room and got our dinner and ate it up by the big screen. At times if there is bad weather it comes and goes. Also you don't see the commercials

I've been on three SuperBowl cruises in a row. The game is on everywhere as stated. There's even great finger foods in Diversions. Formal nights are moved to the next day.

Yes, New Years day was great for those of us who don't care about football of any kind........despite a packed cruise, other than the clubs, the ship was pretty empty.

This thread cracks me up.. this is exactly a problem my DH would have - wanting to know when and where he could see the Big Game. :rotfl2::lmao:

Sounds like it's a BLAST when the super bowl is on!! Makes me want to book SB cruise... hmmm.... :rotfl:

DH & DS are going to love this!

No Commercials?! That's the only part of the game I like! :)

Thanks for the replies everyone... I figured they'd make a big deal of it on the ship and it sounds like lots of fun! Our friends will be disappointed as we've hosted a big SuperBowl party for the past 10 years, but I'm actually looking forward to being catered to for once!
