Watching the Marathon/Half Marathon

Does anyone know if my family needs to be at Epcot/Magic Kingdom at the start of the race or could they get there about when I should be at that mile mark. When I run my dad usually coaches me at different mile marks as the kids, my sisters and mom cheer.

For the half-- I'm not certain about the full-- spectators MUST take the monorail to enter MK during the race, but the trains run continuously. Last year, very speedy spectators were able to see their runners in multiple locations using the monorail. If they have access to t he monorail, then they might be able to catch a few more Zzzzzz's than you'll get.

You might head over to the WISH board, too. THere are lots of runners over there who have run more events than I have.

They dont allow spectators at the starting area so he wouldnt be able to see you there. This year we stayed at the WL & my scream team left the hotel about 6:30 and took the boat to the Contemporary so I saw them right as I got up "Contemporary hill" and then they hopped on the monorail & took it to the Poly, saw them there & then they hopped back on & went to Epcot & saw us cross the finish line. It was awesome seeing them so many times! The only way you could do this would be to use the monorail. The roads are closed down in alot of areas & traffic would be too bad to try to get around.

They can get there when you should be there. However because there will be lots of people doing this, they will want to account for the large crowds and plan accordingly. Some people get the prime spectator spots early and stay there for the whole race.

Thanks for the info. We are staying at VWL so I am glad boat can take them to the Contemporary that early in the morning. Shouldn't be hard getting them up. They are all early risers, I am the one that they are all worried about.
