Watching Illuminations from Morocco?

Is the Spice Road Table Restaurant a good place to eat and watch Illuminations?

That depends. IF you are seated outside on the patio yes. We had a 730pm reservation our last trip which we thought would be a decent chance of getting a patio table but nope. We were seated indoors. We were told they would dim the lights and pipe in the music and we could watch from our table side window but that did not actually happen. The lights stayed on, the music was Moroccan, and the view was limited at best from the windows. I thought a 7:30 ressie would work but it did not for us. We enjoyed our meal and went back and watched Illuminations the next night.

We were told they would dim the lights and pipe in the music and we could watch from our table side window but that did not actually happen.

Note to those reading along:
If you are at a restaurant that has a view of IllumiNations, at about 5-6 minutes before the start-time of IllumiNations,
find the manager of the restaurant and ask her/him that the lights be dimmed and the sound from the show be turned on.
Sometimes they simply forget to do this.
Don't wait until the start of the show. Remind the manager about 5 minutes before.
This is also true of Ohana and the MK fireworks.
Sometimes the manager may be a substitute and/or just gets busy and may not remember to ready the room for the fireworks show.

What's a good time to get a reservation to try to get that table outside at Spice Road? When we'll be there, Illuminations is at 9:30. I got a reservation for 7:55, but I feel that might be too late.

We checked in at 8:00 for our 8:30 reservation, made it clear we were staying through IllumiNations (which was scheduled for 10:00 that night), and were seated immediately, almost in the center of the outdoor seating area. If our server hadn't encouraged us to move to an unoccupied table closer to the railing when IllumiNations started, our view would have been obstructed by the seating area's overhang (would have missed most of the fireworks), as well as the pillars on the outside of the restaurant. All that said, I'd go there again...the food was fantastic, the service was fantastic, and the view was good enough for us.

It is completely unpredictable.
It can vary nightly.
