Hi! We booked a ressie for the Nine Dragons Chinese resteraunt in China. Now we made it for 7 on a night where Illuminations begins at 9. Now what should we do when the meal is over? I figure it will be over at about 8-8:15 ish. Now should we sit down in China and watch Illuminations from there, or do something else? Where is a really good, comfortable place to watch it from? Thanks alot! :cool1:  :teeth:

China is an OK spot for viewing.
The "Control-Room" for IllumiNations is actually on the roof of China.

Like anywhere else, find a spot that isn't blocked by trees.

When we ate in China (this was a few years ago) the only thing we could really see were the fireworks in the air. Maybe it was where we were seated and we didn't move towards the window because we didn't want to disturb other diners. Also, the crowds and trees were kind of in the way. We didn't see much.

By the water in Italy or on the little bridge in Italy is the best spot. Its right next to the "VIP" seating area so you get the same view.

Well first of all, you would have to have really good eyesight to see illuminations all the way from China. Oh, you mean the China area in Epcot?
Just kidding, I'm sure it would be fine.

 :rolleyes1 :rotfl2:

If I'm remembering correctly, there is an Island full of trees blocking the veiw in China. I know this because we had a snack in China once and sat on the benches by the lagoon. Later that night my DH said "Lets go back to that bench in China to watch Illuminations". When we got there we noticed the tree covered island

I think that the curvature of the earth probably won't let you see them from China. You might want to try watching them from Epcot. :thumbsup2

I've watched from the area near China before (few years back) and we only did that since the wind was blowing away from us that night. Always check the wind direction otherwise you may find the clouds of smoke drifting toward you or not clearing out fast enough so that you can't see the little flower/globe. The one advantage of watching it from China is you're a little closer to the exit when Illuminations is finished.

This past December, we ate at Nine Dragons at 7:00 pm and we finished and had enough time to walk towards Germany and find a place to watch it from there. I love watching it there because you're not too far from the globe, some of the rockets launch right in front of you and you can get some spectacular photos from there. Lots of overhanging trees so be aware of what's above you before you stake your claim.

We watched while eating at 9 Dragons last October. We didn't have a perfect view, but it was nice not to rush out of dinner.

I have to strongly disagree. I have seen the show over 3 dozen times from nearly every location. In my opinion by far the best views of Illumination are from anywhere on the Future World side of the Lagoon. Tower Plaza is the best view followed by the area between there and Mexico and Canada. Anywhere between the Outpost Bridge and Mexico is good too. I find anywhere between the UK and the outpost (including the French bridge to be a terrible view of the show.

Hmmm... I agree with Dis31: Italty is the best view of Illuminations. Between the Outpost Bridge and Mexico has lots of obstructed views, not good.

I do agree that the best view is on the Future World side of the Lagoon.
