Watching Illuminations from Canada

My DBIL and his family are in WDW this week. He called today and said that they watched Illuminations last night from Canada. They were all told to keep the stairway clear, but they could stay there against the building. My DSIL is in a wheelchair and she said she had an unobstructed view.
We always stake out our spot front and center of the lake about 1½ hours ahead as it's a great view. Have you ever watched from the Canada? Need some DIS opinions.

Yes, we have seen Illuminations from Canada. The view is pretty good. Where we were situated, on the top of some steps, there was a tree that somewhat obstructed our view but for the most part it was good. There were even people who were on top of one of the buildings in Canada but I have no idea how they got up there and they may have been CM's. I would just say no matter where you go to stake your claim early.
