Watching a Sporting Event in WDW

I'm a huge Mets fan and I will be away on vacation @ WDW during the first few days of the playoffs (10/3-10/6). Fortunately for me, it is a certainty that the Mets will make the playoffs this year; however, the dates/times of the games will not be known until right before the playoffs begin. I'm trying to keep my schedule flexible so that when gametimes are announced I can make arrangements to be somewhere to see the game.

I can always head back to my off-site resort to see the game, but I was hoping for some suggestions on where to see such a major sporting event in WDW.

I imagine the ESPN club is a possibility, but I have never been there. Does it get very crowded for such events? Do you need to reserve a table well in advance? Can you stay for an entire 3 hour game?

I've also noticed on past trips that the Tambu Lounge at the Polynesian has a large screen TV, and they often times show sporting events. Does anyone have any more details about the tambu Lounge or any other restaurants or lounges/bars where I might be able to watch the game?

Thanks

ESPN is the obvious choice. They will let you stay for the game. They do NOT take ADR's. It's first come first served.

Don't forget about All Star Cafe.

If you are staying off-site I assume you will have a car. Why not google the Orlando area for sports bars?

Another Met's fan here! ESPN is probably your best bet. I'm not sure what the schedule will be for afternoon vs. night games. I think I heard that all of the opening series are on TNT as well. Now, concerning ESPN..... there are no reservations, it's first come first served and once seated you can stay as long as you want. There are two sides to ESPN; the main dining area with a large screen TV and the bar area (sidelines). Every table on either side has access to smaller TVs (multiple), so the prospect of getting the game are good. Just ask/tell your server you want to watch the Met's game on TV #XX. Concerning the crowds; it can get crowded especially when the Met's, Yankees, Red Sox, or any team from Philly (so it seems) is playing. It does not appear your schedule will conflict with College or NFL football, but Saturdays and Sundays from noon on are usually a "zoo".

Another option, although I've never done it is the All-Star Cafe over at Wide World of Sports. I think you'll do fine at ESPN! Let's go Mets!!! popcorn:: :drinking1 party:
