I know it has been posted before, but do not let Pal Mickey out of your sight. My mother and youngest son sere left in charge of the stroller, scooter and unfortunately Pal Mickey. DS4 had to use restroom, they left, we came back within a couple of minutes and he was gone. No one noticed except me and I had to then sneak off to buy another since he had been my son's b-day gift months ago. We were always wearing him on a bottle strap, but took him off, because DS4 was too small to ride Primevil Whirl. I know that it is sacreligious, but I am not sure it was worth the effort to keep an eye on that little guy!

Just wanted to give a "heads up" re. the little guy!

i CAN'T BELIEVE HOW MEAN PEOPLE CAN BE. To steal a childs toy in Disney. So sorry you had some of the magic taken away. Glad to see you recovered fast. Hope the rest of your trip was wonderful. Gina

It's really too bad that people's Pal Mickey's are getting stolen! I'm glad that you were able to get another one before your son noticed it was gone (although it's too bad you had to shell out another $60 for it).

Maybe if Disney lowered the price on these things instead of raising them people wouldn't be swiping them.

What I want to know is how someone could ever enjoy a toy that they stole from a child???...I also agree those little guys are hard to keep-up with after a few hours the children get tired of having him around their neck....(We used the bottle strap also)

This is not the first one I've heard of getting stolen. Such a shame to steal a child's toy!!

Maybe Disney should personalize each one like they do with the Mickey ears. Bet if your child's name was embroidered on, less of them would get stolen.

Hi Michelle,
Sorry to hear the news. My DS also had his taken. I just don't get people. I've always heard about how great Disney security is - how they see everything on surveillance. I don't know how true that is but we can only hope that, sooner or later, one of these people will be caught. The CM that I spoke with at lost and found told me that they have several people in a day reporting their Pal Mickey stolen.

The one good thing...it was before they raised the price! The CM working when I went to buy the second one actually said, "you are lucky, they are raising the price next week." I am afraid I said that I didn't FEEL lucky as I had already purchased one! Believe me, I wasn't taking it out on her. I needed her to hurry up and unpackage the little guy before my family figured out what I was up to. I meant to post it when I got home, as a reminder, but we have several family emergencies going on at once!

I have to say I was so offended that someone would do that! I also wondered if they were being stolen to use or to sell. Oh well. Thanks for understanding! I didn't tell ANYONE including my DH about it, so I didn't have anyone to gripe with!

I wonder if Pal Mickey can be de-activated once reported stolen, like they do with a cell phone? I hate to think that the thieves could enjoy it. Hey, maybe they can track them & find them red handed like Lojack! They are recognized by the WDW computers, right? :smooth:

Well for grins I checked EBAy, and they had about 3 in boxes, one without box but the tags attached, and one with no mention of tag or box. Wonder if some of the stolen ones end up there. I noticed one said it was "used one day", so I wonder if that family got bored with it.

Thanks for the good advice and reminder,I just don't think of people stealing from you at WDW.:wave2:

It makes me sad to read about stories like this :(

They are uniquelt numbered with a code like a cell phone (that is how it has the proper things to say). They can not "track it" per say but they could stop it from gettting info. After speaking with several CM's they thought "deactivation" was a good idea but too many glitches. (ie someone transposes a number and the wrong pal is turned off)

I just returned from the World on Saturday night and fortunatly my Pal Mickey story had a good ending.

After surviving his clip being lost the first day and me forgetting my drink lanyard to tether him I let him in a bathroom stall in Future World. I was writing in my trip report book, waiting for my DB when I noticed "#$&@)($#)!@#" - and other similar un-Disney like words, that I left my Mickey.

I felt sure he was gone. I went running in the bathroom, all frantic and there was a nice lady holding him up, asking if anyone lost a Mickey.

I was so glad to see him and so greatful that the nice lady tried to find his owner rather than take him.
