When we arrived at the Lodge drive up a valet person came to the car and asked what service I would be needing. I told him I was checking in and needed my luggage brought to the room. He brought the luggage rack over and then I asked him if he would be the one bringing up the luggage and he responded he would park the car and bring the luggage up. He called front desk with my name and they gave him my room#. At that time I tipped him according to this situation. For parking the car unloading and supposedly bringing up the luggage.

When we got to the room the luggage had not arrived yet and then came a knock. Opened the door and the luggage was there but with a different Valet person. Now this person is looking for a tip which which I have already given to the other Valet. Explained to this Valet what I had already did and why and he should be entitled to part of the money I had already given to the other Valet.

I would like to know if this has happened to anyone else and how you handled it. Thank You.

It is very rare that the person who unloads your car will be bringing the lugage up to your room. The valets do just that, park & retrieve cars. My wife tips everybody. I tip just the person who delivers the bag & the person who brings me my car.

If this is how it is then the first Valet should have never commited to bringing up the luggage himself. I tipped him on the premise of him getting the room# and getting to the room before I did with the luggage as my check-in could have taken some time and that part was taken care of.

I have never seen a valet handle the luggage too. I'am sorry to say I believe there is a misunderstanding between you and the valet.

Tony P: hi : i have to agree with Don and Dave; we've never had the same person park the car and take up the luggage and we've been staying at wdw since 93. sorry there was a misunderstanding. come to think of it- i can't think of a single place we've ever gone that had the valet and bell services combined.

When we stayed at VWL in November, the valet was very specific about how the luggage would be handled. He clearly stated that he would place the luggage on the rack, and that someone else would bring it to our room.

This procedure was also explained when we stayed at the Poly in September.

Sorry that you had a bad experience.:(

I seem to tip everyone. It's a bad habit sometimes. I always think I am leaving someone out. We have never had the same valet take the luggage and also deliver it to the room.

I'm new to DVC (just closed on a BWV resale). What is the DVC policy re:tipping valets, bell staff, maids, car valets, etc? Is any of it included in our dues?
Thanks.

Welcome Home Dr. Shifty!:)

Tipping is optional, and is not included in the dues.

I guess we tip everyone. If you pay for your bags to be held, car to be taken and then bags brought to your room, you'd have three tips to pay anyway. How many times have any of us had a room ready when you checked in?

The front valet unloads and takes care of the car. They give the luggage to the bell staff for delivery to the room. We always tip both parties.

WE always tip 2 bucks for the valet and a buck or two for each bag for the bell hop. However one nite we called down for something..I can't remember what it was..anyway it was from house keeping I went to tip the peron who brought up our supplies and the said the could not accept the tip. I have never heard of this.
