Watch those rates at DLH/GC/PP! AP discounts vary

We just booked our annual Christmas trip, leaving Dec 12th. The weekend of the 5th is completely sold out!

As I was poking around, checking rates on the AP site, I noticed rates were jumping around quite a bit. It would vary from afternoon to evening, and day to day. I waited until it seemed at a low point and booked at GC.

Next day, I pulled up dates again and there was a $100/night difference! At this point, I called. Got a wonderful person on the line who adjusted the rate for me. We had already paid the deposit so the final balance is less, which is terrific!

Warning--while she was checking, she did say that if they had rooms available at the lower rate, she would be happy to make the adjustment. So, there are only so many rooms at certain rates. Just a heads up.

Even with the AP discounts, it can vary. This is the second time this has happened to me. Last time was Concierge level at DLH and boy did that save a lot of $$$. I was very glad I caught that.

...I've been finding this to happen with airfares as well (thankfully, SWA will adust for lower fares).

This year the DLR hotel booking has been crazy!! I kept checking on the rates so I could book our annual Christmas season trip. There were no discounts and I was beginning to worry so I finally booked at the regular AP rate. We already had our air because I'd taken advantage of one of the low fare SW sales, so that meant our dates were set, too. One day, someone posted that even though it wasn't showing up anywhere, there was an AP fall package that would show up if you clicked "book" and it had just started that day. I jumped on it and rebooked, saving a lot of $$$. Within a very short time--like a day--it was gone. It briefly reappeared and then disappeared for good. I'm so glad I was able to nab one, as it appears that there were very few rooms at the 25% discount for our dates (Dec 7-10). I've been checking ever since and every room in every category has remained sold out! Checking on other dates, I've seen the rates and availability go up, down, and sideways!!

Yes! A 25% savings is a lot of churros!!!! I'm glad I pursued it.
