Watch out with DME - Wrong Terminal!

Took DME yesterday afternoon. We were actually looking forward to leaving, as the crowd levels and heat really got to us this week.

So we are relaxing and painfully watching the DME movie on the way back, and I say painfully because the movie makes you NOT want to leave. :goodvibes

So we, and only one other group, arrive at a terminal and the driver says ok, everyone wait for your luggage outside. Now I told her TWICE what airline we were going to, so why would their be a problem? We all get outside, tip the driver, go in, and ok, where is Southwest? We couldn't find it because she dropped us at the wrong terminal.

We had to take our 3 little ones and probably 10 bags including carryons and hoof it over to the other terminal. We wouldn't have tried this on our own, but the ever so helful United employee I asked for help told us 'it wasn't far at all.'

Because of this, I don't think we could do DME again. I'm sorry I tipped the driver. I just can't believe she dropped us at the wrong terminal. I totally know it is a free service, and I appreciate that. But it wasn't alltogether free with the tipping, and geesh I thought we would be dropped off where our plane was! Its like Disney cares when you arrive, they take your luggage and say come right this way, get on our bus and we'll do the work. But when its time to go, and you've spent your money, they don't care how you get home. Very, very disappointing.

Did you not ask before getting off? I always double check things. Sorry you guys were dropped off in the wrong place. Hopefully ours will go smoother next month.

Well, that wasn't so good, was it!! Usually, the DME driver makes a very big thing about which airlines are at which side of the airport...they go over it several times. Then, they ask what airlines everyone is flying..that way they have an idea of how many on each side.
Then, they usually announce that they are on Side A, which services xyz airlines.
Sorry you had a less than great driver. Not a good way to end a trip. I actually hate having to drag my bags up to SW checkin when they drop me on the right side!!!! Forget about arriving on Side B!!!

There are two terminals at MCO. The driver would have to announce the terminal as he pulls into the commercial lane so the proper passengers get ready to go. Also most drivers fill the belly of the bus with luggage headed to two distinct sections. A side and B side.

Evidently someone fell asleep at the switch because a driver has to announce what side he is on for the benefit of the proper passengers. Now if you told him the side you were on twice and the driver stopped at only one side only at the airport everyone else got off than they all got off on the wrong side.

The general order of the Drop-off sequence is the B side first because it is the closest to the exit the driver comes in on. A side (Southwest) the farthest to drive and than return to B. Evidntly you got off on B side thinking that is the airport stop, when there more than likely was an A stop that would have been made after completion of the B side drop-off. Very rearely do busses only have a one side stop on the bus and the one stops are usually on the A side where most of the Disney passengers come in on.

By the time you get to the top (third) level where the ticket counters are, the wrong side is not that far from the correct side. It's the same rectangular building.

Some folks can actually get to their airline's ticket counter more quickly by getting off on the wrong side if the bus stops there first, since the bus has to wind around the roadway system to get to the other side.

It's like entering a football stadium from the wrong side (although usually near the 50 yard line) but there are some walkways criss crossing the field.

Getting from the bus level to the ticket counter level is the same as if you got off on the correct side.

Busses are supposed to drop off at the middle, for passenger convenience, of the commercial concourse on both sides of the building.
