As I speak I'm on the phone with Alamo. Called them to check to see if my rate would go down. I was quoted $197.92 now they are telling me $280. What a joke. They claim that is the cost they told me originally. I would definitely call and check your price because they quoted me a lower one but put in the system the higher price. Now I'm talking to the supervisor and I told him I can get $234 on the internet site why would I have agreed to $280. He has me on hold. I told him if he doesn't give it to me for the original price I will cancel. Maybe this is a sign to use DME instead of renting a car. I will post how it comes out if I ever get off of hold. :hourglass

Did you acctually make a reservation at 197.92? Did you get a printoutr (on line) or written confirmation by mail (phone reservation)?

If so you are all set with your lower rate. If not, get something in writing and if you don't like what it says, cancel.

You'll almost always pay more to book a reservation through a telephone agent or a travel agent than you will booking on an Internet site. The Internet is typically the place to get the lowest prices since you get the least amount of personal service.

After talking with Manager and being on hold for about 15 minutes he said there was a mistake in the system and gave me a new rate of 192.18. It is funny how fast it was fixed when I told him I would cancel and go through a different car company.

Sorry to be negative,

But I would be supprised if your threat of changing car companies would scare him into giving you a cheaper rate.

I tried to change my pick-up and drop off times online because of a huge flight change. It was going to change my rate about $60. When I called Alamo, the agent was able to change the times without any rate change.

To the OP,

If you printed your confirmation, you shouldn't have any problem keeping your rate.
