Waste a TS Meal at our resort?

We're doing a 7 day dining plan and I have the following places picked out for myself, DH and DD's ages 6 and 4. I've been considering dropping one of the meals below and doing a TS meal at our resort, CBR, instead - just in case we wanted to spend a night in without going anywhere. Somehow - I feel like I'm wasting a TS credit to eat at our resort rather than going to a more fun atmosphere. I'd like other people's opinions. The places I'm considering going are below. Which should I cancel if I decide to eat at our resort? Also - do you find it better to do your "down night" towards the beginning or end of your trip.

Liberty Tree
Coral Reef
Mama Melrose w/ Fantasmic Dinner Pkg
Crystal Palace
50's Prime Time Cafe
Whispering Canyon
Planet Hollywood
Akerhus Royal Banquet

I wouldn't consider it a waste to eat at your resort at all. It might be nice to spend some time around the resort which we all pay so much money for. :)

If I was going to pick our of your list I would pick Whispering Canyon or Liberty Tree. Even though Liberty Tree is not a character dinner anymore we love the food here. Whispering canyon's food is good but I love spending time at WL. I think it is one of the most beautiful resorts on property.

If I were to pick one to leave off of your list, I'd pick Planet Hollywood.

If you want to eat in DTD, you could just use up a CS credit & eat at Earl of Sandwich. The sandwiches there are great & plenty large enough for dinner.

After hearing so much good about Boatwrights, I decided that we needed to eat there at least once. But after seeing some of their breakfast selections, I'm thinking that it may be more than once. I'v been scheduling our rest days right in the middle of our trip but upon looking at the expected crowd levels, I think that I should make them on the weekends. Maybe next time I'll plan a Wednesday to Wednesday trip and then do nothing on the two weekend days in the middle.

I needed to pay for one dinner (Spent two TS at Cindy' Castle) so I picked Planet Hollywood simply because I have that $15 off coupon with the package. We'll probably do Earl of Sandwich for lunch that day. Thanks for the tip about the size of the Sandwiches, maybe we'll share.

First of all, I think I'd stick to making your table service meal in the park you are visiting for the day. Does that wording sound right? For example, on Monday, you're in Magic Kingdom, eat at Crystal Palace that night. If you're in Hollywood Studios on Tuesday, eat at Mama Melrose's that night. And so on and so on. With children, it just makes it so much easier than traveling outside the park to a resort or other theme park to eat. That being said, we do have an exception.....our Animal Kingdom day. The park closes earlier than the other parks so we eat our dinner (our table service credit) outside the park.

Now, on to what day to spend a down day. Our trips are 10 days long so we have two down days that we don't plan anything at all. If I had just one "down" day, I'd make it in the middle of the trip. By mid-way through, you'll probably be ready for a break.

As far as "wasting" a table service credit at your resort, I don't think it would be wasting at all. We've stayed at the CBR three times and the resort is a great place to eat a nice meal and relax. With the white sandy beaches, water and surrey bike rentals, new main pool and quiet pools, it's a tropical vacation with a Disney vacation.
