I don't know if this is the correct place for this comment....but I'll start here. Just got back from a week at the Boardwalk. When we checked in I went to Bell Services (like I always have) and told them I had a scooter waiting for me and some boxes of medical supplies had been delivered for me. They sent me to the concierge desk. I went over there and told her that I had gone to Bell Services and they sent me to her for my scooter and boxes that had been delivered. She seemed confused by that but went looking for my stuff. When she finally figured out where my boxes were (the scooter is a whole other story
) she told me that my room would be charged $60 for delivery.
Long story short. I was told that packages now go through a 3rd party, Ikon, at the business center - I got on the phone with the person from Ikon who told me that they had been there since 2009 and if I had a problem with the charge I should take it up with the front desk for not telling me about it, but that was the fee. I told her I understood if I were shipping my luggage down as a convenience being charged, but that these were medical supplies. She said it didn't matter. I don't understand why she would send me to the front desk when Disney claims they don't charge the fee - that Ikon does.
Since 2009 I have been to Saratoga springs, Boardwalk, Kidani, Beach Club and back to Boardwalk - each time I had boxes shipped, and this is the first time anyone has ever said anything about a fee. And there is no way around it. You can't go over and pick it up yourself. So I need to plan for an additional $100 or so for my longer trips just to get my dialysis solution from them....maybe. Because, even though she said they have been doing this since 2009 - on 4 out of 5 of my trips I wasn't charged anything.
:
I don't know if the other times my medical supply place delivered the boxes personally and this time they shipped them UPS - if that was the difference. But I have no control over how they do it. I call in my monthly order, I tell them that I am going to be on vacation where and for how long and they ship some of my supplies to my hotel. The gal from Ikon told me that if I ship it through the post office that it won't go through them....but I don't think my boxes can go through the post office.
As for the scooter - the gal at the concierege desk found my scooter, came out and told me the battery was dead and that there was no charger with it.
She called Walkers and told them....even got a little snippy with them about it (just a little). Finally Walkers said they would be right there. They were there in just a few minutes....on my scooter - which wasn't dead. Somebody had pulled up the knob and put it in free-wheel, so when she turned the key the light just flashed. As for "no charger", well, instead of the big battery charger it was just a cord and it was wrapped up and in the back pocket of the seat. So my fully charged scooter was there the whole time, but because they sent me to concierge to get it I got someone unfamiliar with the scooters who didn't realize there was nothing wrong with it. I spent nearly 2 hours trying to get checked in between the boxes and the scooter.
Not a good start to the trip.
The same gal also spent a lot of time trying to find out what my DH needed to do in order to get tickets to the golf tournament. Last year the tickets were at the check in desk. She called 2 or 3 different places and couldn't find any information. Finally she said something to the gal at the next station (who had been busy with another guest) and she handed her a cheat sheet that was right there. It's the same kind of thing that that they have to show guests the different ticket options. So that was about 15-20 minutes to find information that was literally at her fingertips......
