Just curious how many of us are from the beautiiful state of Washington?! I found this board after booking our first trip to WDW and Magic cruise in 4/01. The help and ideas shared here are priceless and I'm using as much as I can in planning our next trip, A 7-day cruise on 3/22/03.

As you can see from my info, I live in Everett. This board has been great for me. Really helped in planning and keeping me updated on what is going on at the WDW parks and Disney cruise. Had made 2 trips to WDW in 98 and 99, and then found this website while planning for a trip in 2000. Really helped. Able to do stuff we hadn't even know about on that trip. We are taking our first cruise 11/16/02, so we will find out soon how much this website was able to prepare me.

Living in Washington, Disney mostly advertises for Disneyland here and there isn't much ever in the papers, so this website is great for keeping updated.

Any other Washingtonians out there??

Washington State????? Is this the same K.S. from Town Tavern days? If so, It really IS a small world after all! natt from Delaware

Here's another Washington Stater here! We live on the other side of the mountains in Spokane. We just returned 2 days ago from a combination 3 night Wonder cruise and 6 night stay at Vero Beach! We had our 3 children w/us as well as my mother and grandmother, a 4 generation trip! We had a blast and everything was up to my Disney expectations, which I have gotten very used to as a DVC member! Glad to hear we're not the only N.W. mouse fans out there!:p

Great board -- we are DVC members at OKW since 1994. Have made a trip to WDW just about every year since & about 4 trips before we "committed". We go every May -- as a way to shake off the winter...

May 2003 will be our first cruise ever, (4-day Wonder departing May 4), with an eight day stint at OKW after the cruise. With the help of this board -- I know that we'll have our best family vacation ever -- Glad to know that I've got a few other Disney fans in state -- now the real question to show your true colors -- coug or dog? KW

Are you kidding me? A dog fan in Eastern Washington, I would be burned at the stake not to mention having to go to confession for even having those thoughts! A COUG fan all the way!!!! Until basketball season then it's Bulldogs all the way!!! BTW, also an OKW owner since 94' with subsequent add ons at OKW and also Vero Beach! We have only been able to go about every 2 years w/ 3 little ones in tow! The cruise was a first, but also a highlight since owning at OKW- we had also been to WDW before owning, but bought sight unseen when we 1st had the opportunity in 94'.

Just another Washingtonian here! My friend Dixie Dreamer - who also lives in Eastern Washington turned me onto the DIS almost 2 years ago. Couldn't live without it! My DH even admitted that our trip this summer to WDW was really great - due to all the helpful hints courtesy of the DIS.

Now we're planning our first ever cruise and can't wait to go!:D

It's PURPLE & GOLD all the way! Guess that you can tell I'm from the W side of the mountains.

Hey, any ideas on keeping the little ones occupied on the flight across the country? Last year we rented a DVD player for them. It was marvelous!

Both my boys take their Game Boys with them. I'll also take a little box of crayons and a couple of new coloring books. I also found out by accident that dramamine puts my younger DS (6) right to sleep! Not that I'd give it to him just for that  but the thought is tempting!

BriarfoxinWa,
Too bad we are getting off the Magic as you get on! The only bad side to being on the West coast is the cost off flying to Fla.! Have you booked your air yet? I added air to our package just in case I don't find a good deal but for Disney air it is a additional 613 per person! The onlt reason I would use Disney air is we may have to fly in red-eye on Friday night because of school for my DD who is a freshman at PLU. Arriving that close to cruising is scary beause of possible flight delays so at least Disney would then take care of us. Hopefully we will be able to red-eye fly in on Thurs. night giving us a whole day for possible delays and then I would try to book our own but as of yesterday the cheapest I found was about 400 .

I have never paid over $200 for a flight from Seattle to Orlando -- Once I even got tickets for my three children for $139 each -- Round trip of course . Since I take 5 to 7 people about every year -- air fare is a major trip expense.

I have always travelled in May -- I start checking fares in December & ususally book in mid January or early February. I've never had a problem getting a scheduled flight -- or a decent departure time.

I'm in Oregon now but I used to live in Anacortes and I still have my house up there. Does that count?

I still do all serious shopping in downtown Seattle too.

Cruella.

We just got back a week ago and flew w/ 3 little ones, ages 1,3 and 6 and we used anything and everything to keep them preoccupied. The older ones had Pixter's, like a gameboy and they really helped, crayons, and special games bought just for the trip, the newness helps keep thier attention a little more! A big problem that we discovered this last trip was the lack of food now on the flights. We learned the hard way that you need to pack your own food and don't even expect there to be milk and such avail. This really hit us hard when we sat on the tarmack for 2 hours in Pheonix at our layover and then had to deplane only to have to race to another plane in another terminal! Food was a major issue, so pack well! Good luck! And btw, we also went on the cruise and ended up getting into Orlando very late, but found the Radisson at the port very easily and not a long drive, and it was very worth it to stay there, we had a 2 bedroom suite which worked well w/ kids, they were very accomodating and it was a very nice facility, esp. for the special 99$ rate, which is still on as I read recently!

Sigafoos - I've been watching the price of airfare - but so far it's still to high. We paid $210 rt from Spokane for our trip to WDW in June. I figure I'll just wait it out. The price of the Disney airfare is just too high. We're taking our kids out of school for 6 days to do this and of course none of the airlines usually offer a special price to fly on a Friday. I'll buy when it gets down to the $200 - $250 range which is usually about 3-4 months out.

We've discovered that it makes sense to pack our own snacks. We always take a backpack with cheetos, cookies, pretzels & etc. We were lucky this summer that we had just enough layover time to grab a burger at the McDonalds in the Minneapolis airport before catching the next flight.

We're going to stay at the Airport Hyatt in Orlando. It's spendy but we may end up on a late flight. After 6-8 hours of air travel time I really don't want to do the drive to the port late at night.
