Can someone please tell me how to search for a hotel with an "outdoor" pool? There are so many choices in and around DC and with us going in July, it would be nice to have the pool for the kids to dip into after all the walking in the heat.
Thanks

A couple of years ago we stayed at the Washington Plaza Hotel at Thomas Circle, specifically for use of a pool. Hotel isnt that great (but not bad) and about a 8 minute walk to Metro and half hour walk to whitehouse. Worked great for us.

Go to hotels.com and search for hotels in Washington DC. Under amenities put a check next to pool. When the list reloads you will have the hotels with a pool. If you click on any hotel and go to their photos almost every one will include a photo of the pool area and you can tell if it is indoor or outdoor. If you find a hotel you like and can't tell just call or go to their website which might have more information on the pool.

Good luck.

I can't help you as most of my trips to D.C. are day trips and the few times I've stayed there have been at the Hay-Adams (back when I had lots of disposable income and no sense :rolleyes1). I hope you have a great time! I love D.C. (minus the homeless people [which aren't bad during the daytime] and traffic :) ). I think a pool would be a great thing to have especially because when you visit D.C. there's a whole lot of walking involved.

We leave for D.C. on July 6 and we're staying at the Best Western in Fairfax, VA. I searched FOREVER looking at pool pictures of several hotels in our price range with free parking. Make sure you know how much it costs (if anything) for parking. It can cost around $30 per night to park. have fun!!:thumbsup2

Does it have to be an outdoor pool specifically? Not too many hotels IN DC have outdoor pools. More have indoor pools if you can compromise with that.
Trip Advisor is a good resource too. It will rank hotels by reviews. They have pretty accurate reviews and lots of traveller photos.

The hotels that we have stayed at that have outdoor pools in DC are: L'Enfant Plaza hotel (ugh, would not recommend) and across the river the Key Bridge Marriott in Arlington (very nice hotel). We've stayed at the JW Marriott in DC which has an indoor pool. (great location, ok hotel, pricey not as nice as other JW's)
We've not stayed here, but visited and the Omni Shoreham has an outdoor pool which looks nice.

We've stayed at lots of other nice hotels but did not have a pool, and I know it is nice to have one for the kids after long, hot days.

PS Also, some hotels have reciprocal agreements with others to let you use their pool~ something to check into.
