Washington DC restaurant help

Our troop is staying the the University in dorm housing. Just in case anyone else is and did know, they have a microwave and either a full size or dorm size fridge. Our leader told us last night that there is a Whole Foods grocery on the edge of campus too. We will do breakfast in our room and at least evening snacks. I saw on the website that the Hard Rock is offering a box lunch special fro 14.95 a person. I know that is wayy to much for us. Just me and my girls would be 45.00. Hoping to find less expensive places.

OK, if you are looking for an bit of a different food experience, there is a GREAT Chinese restaurant in the heart of Chinatown, the name is Full Kee.
Here is the address:
509 H St NW
(between N 5th St & N 6th St)
Washington, DC 20001

It is authentic Chinese food, and the prices are extremely reasonable. You could easily budget less than $10.00 per person for lunch. I honestly want to say that it was around $6.50 for lunch when I was there in October.

I am in DC several times a year for work and I make it a point to go there every time.

I am not an adventurous eater, so when I find a place that has fantastic food at a great price - I tend to go back!

Warning - there ARE ducks roasting when you first walk in! :scared1:

I took a few colleagues there this year and a couple of the ladies were a little queasy when they saw the ducks - but hey, it's all part of the experience! HAHA

If you all think Disney prices, you will be fine! :lmao: Seriously, there are sandwich/pizza options all over town. Just be prepared that any meal will be an extra $2 because of a drink. There are also a reasonable number of fast food options around the city.

Chuckabone - which university, GW? There are plenty of inexpensive options there (maybe not sit-down) because of all of the students. You will find Potbelly's, Subways and other chains like that. Food shouldn't be a problem.

MandM-Mom - where on the Mall? The mall is at least 20 blocks long, so there are bunches of different neighborhoods along it.

texasmom - the GS store is on Connecticut Ave, at the Van Ness metro station. Check their hours before going, although they may be open longer when you all are in town. Union Station is a decent food court.

Also, DC has a 10% restaurant tax.
