Okay, I've been on these threads a long time, but I have a fairly simple question...

I went through the directions in the stick threads and that came w/my transfer paper...however, reading through all that, something struck me...

I WASHED the shirts PRIOR to ironing on the transfers as specified...

Now, I am reading that the shirts need to be washed before wearing....

Does this mean I have to wash them AGAIN after ironing on the transfer??

I just went back and re-read the tips thread on these boards, and it says to wash BEFORE doing the iron on.

However my transfer paper does not mention washing BEFORE ironing, only after, so I'm thinking it's all in the same.

Why would you have to wash AFTER you iron it???

I wash mine before ironing the transfer on, but NOT before wearing. Sometimes the designs wrinkle after being washed. I like mine to look perfect when we wear them in Disney and then we wash them after that.

That is EXACTLY what I was thinking!!!!!

you want to do an initial wash - with laundry detergent but WITHOUT fabric softener - to remove the SIZING that comes in most brand new shirts.

There's a difference in opinion about washing AFTER iron on. I did wash mine again - in a vinegar wash - after ironing on and about 5 out of 70 had a cracking problem; however, I think some cracked because I either left the iron on too long or the dryer was too hot (it was a commercial dryer at the laundromat).

Personally, I like to wash all brand-new clothes before I wear them the first time to get the chemicals out; however, most of the folks I've met here DO wash B4 ironing on. Just don't use fabric softener!
