I think that WE ALL base what we do on what we are. Some people are less oily, some less sheddy, some sleep naked, some do a lot of stuff (activities) in their bed, some sleep nakey, some sleep in fresh PJ's after showering or tubbing each evening (and in the morning for a wakeup shower or not).

Clearly we all have different needs when it comes to bedding. My sheets are clean and fresh still after a weeks sleep. It would be wasting resources, not gross, for me not to wait another week.

Some that launder their sheets twice a week may NEED to, whether it's due to OCD, animals in bed, or because they have a lot of excretions from sores or pores, or maybe they go to bed tired and unclean after working more than anyone should have to.

We all have our own ideas of what gross is and what others sheets may look like after they've slept in them but those ideas are based on our own reality.
For example, if your sheets are clearly dirty after a week, YOU may THINK that everyone else has the same experience... so if they go without laundering for more than a week, that is gross to YOU by YOUR standards and experience. The reality could be that the sheets on someone elses bed are as crisp, fresh and clean as the day they were put on the bed.

Time is not the best indicator of cleanliness or filth of sheets. Everyones desires and needs are different. Do what you need to. I generally change/launder my sheets every 2 weeks...not on schedule. It may be 10 days some times 17 other other times, unless there is an immediate need for whatever reason sickness, spill, etc.

Also, quality of sheets and mattress/pad probably has something to do with it all.

I put daily but it's really every 3 days or so, I just decided it is closer to daily than weekly. I couldn't imagine going longer than weekly.

I dunno. Sheets are pretty low down on my list of what I think of as "gross" about a person or their home.

Waaayyy before sheets would come personal hygeine, including oral care (plaque, cavities, breath, general rot, lol), hair, body odor, finger and toe nail care (dirt under nails :faint: ), hair grooming (shaved, mustache trim, underarm hair, etc.), cleanliness of clothing including undergarments, sweatshirts and jackets :scared: etc.

Moving along to the home... general cleanliness, aroma, refrigerator (clean shelves, all food fresh and edible, nothing rotting, lol), kitchen sink and countertops, bathrooms and sinks, floors (clean carpets, no stains), state of disrepair (nothing falling apart or peeling paint, rust, etc.), piled up laundry (clean, dirty), pet areas, etc. :scared1:

If all that passes muster and then you wanna talk sheets, I'll listen. If not, forget it. popcorn::

;)

Wow, I'm definitely in the minority here!

Once a week? I don't think my sheets even get "dirty" in a week!

I wash once a month. LOVE fresh sheets, but HATE making up the complete bed afterwards!!

It's just me in my bed. I don't sleep naked. I don't sweat. I'm not dirty... even though I don't shower before bed. Why the heck would I shower just to go to sleep??? :confused3

I haven't said anything about this yet but I couldn't imagine an animal in my bed. My own mother lets her dog and cat sleep in her bed and I can't believe it because she is an absolute clean freak. Like border line crazy clean freak, but she lets her pets in her bed with her. She loves animals though, me not so much. I will not pet or touch any animal, maybe a really cute puppy I might give a little pat but if I go to someones house I hate when thier pets come near me and there is no well in H*&* i'm going to pet it. My mom gets mad because I won't let her bring her dog into my house. My kids have begged for a dog for years, I tell them it's just never going to happen. I just couldn't imagine having an animal live in my house at all let alone on or in my bed. Yes I know I'm in the minority and tons of people have pets but the thought of pet hair in my house makes me crazy. I also really hate the smell of dogs. The funny thing is I grew up with pets and my mom being such a clean freak I know in theory they can co-exist in harmony with a clean home but I could never get my head around actually having an animal in my home, thankfully my DH agrees with me for the mostpart, so my poor kids are out of luck until they move out and get their own pets:laughing:

Meh, animals on the bed or furniture don't bother me, I keep a clean house and vacuum enough that the pet hair is gone. What I cannot stand is cats on the counters or tables. My sister is OCD when it comes to cleaning but somehow her cat was allowed ont eh counter to eat. I think it was because the dogs ate her food but I cannot remember. Anyway, I somehow ended up with one of her cats and he was used to having the run of the house............counter included :scared1: Not in my house. DH is awake a lot throughout the night and the two of them are in a contest. DH is determined to catch Baxter and Baxter is determined not to be caught ;) All I can say about it is that I am really glad for bleach!

Gives, you longer sleeping time in the morning

We change them weekly whether they need to be done or not. We've never been able to share a blanket, so we each have our own comforter that gets washed every week too.

The dog sleeps with us every night, and more often then not one or more of the three cats ends up on the bed too. All of the pets are clean, well groomed, and are up-to-date on all vaccinations/flea meds so it never occurred to either of us that it was 'gross' to have them on the bed.

Then again, neither of us are germaphobes by any means; we shower in the morning, drink from the orange juice container, walk around barefoot outside, and I have no problem sitting on public toliet seats or touching the door after washing my hands. We're both exceedingly healthy too, (will each get sick less than once a year and it's usually a mild cold) so apparently our 'gross habits' aren't hindering our health too much!
