We have our sheets changed at least every Monday and Thursday

We have an elderly and, shall we say quite incontinent dog, and I was at my wits end trying to clean up mess after mess on the white carpeting that for some reason is EVERYWHERE in our house. She even got me the upholstery attachment so we can clean up whatever gets on the couches, floors, etc., regardless of its "nature". I love it and have already used it half a dozen times.
Sorry, A_Princess'_Daddy, but I had to chuckle at the irony of this.

I agree! Blech. Besides the usual shedding of skin, natural body oil, etc - how about the other things that go on in a bed that require changing sheets? ;)

anytime any "other things" go on the sheets get changed--otherwise once a week.

Deep breath... the pillowcases get changed weekly, for sure, but the sheets? FYI, TMI, I don't even get into the bed... age and hormones say sleep on TOP of the bedspread, with a throw for warmth as needed (If you don't get this, wait til you are 45 :rotfl:) Heck, I've suggested to DH that we just rotate the mattress after a couple of weeks so he can sleep in the "clean" side :rotfl2:

And honestly, the dog IN the bed is just disgustingly gross. Dog hair and drool, feet that have walked all over the place, possibly fleas or ticks, noses, muzzles, and tongues that clean not only your dog's body but have been you-know-where on other dogs? :confused3 Gimme month-old sheets ANY day!

Your only 45! I have long since passed that age. I still sleep in the bed.

I agree about the dog or a cat. Who knows where there have been.

Ha! Trust me, the irony isn't lost on me as I mop up tinkle stains on a nearly daily basis! To make a long story short, when we moved here from the east coast we bought the wrong house by accident (we toured a bunch in person and called in our decision to our realtor after returning home. We meant one but apparently said another address to our realtor, and were quite startled at the closing to find which one we bought). We have grown to like the house and love our neighborhood, so we won't likely move, but the house has way too many rooms and way too much white carpeting and short of hiring a round-the-clock-tinkle-mopper, it will keep getting stained and the stains cannot wait to get cleaned. In addition to the dog, we have two active children who make their own fair share of messes, so the carpet cleaner is my newest pride and joy!

Weekly

Twice a week in summer

You "once a month" I'm too busy people .......yuck:eek:

Twice a week : ) .. If I had help it would be daily lol. I love the feel of freshly washed sheets.

Well, since dh is very allergic to dust mites, and dust mites love to munch on the dead skin cells sloughed off in dirty sheets, we change every few days.

Just having fun, just curious, just hanging out on the Community board talking about trivial stuff. :)
I wash them once a week or so, and I really, really like how they feel when they are freshly washed. It also gives me a chance to straighten/smooth everything out.
I get the impression that some including you think it's a fun topic but a few others seem to be kind of offended by the answers. I don't know, maybe I'm reading too much into it.

I wonder what some people would think about how much DH loves to fall asleep while watching TV on the couch. Of course there is a cover over the couch.... :)

Well I change my sheets at least once a week. Kinda hard to do it more often since DH works nights and is sleeping when I'm up ready to do laundry. But I I guess I would have to change my answer if DH wasn't working nights and sleeping when I was ready to do laundry.

Actually, I haven't been 45 for over a decade... just saying, that's about when you start noticing it's awfully warm in some rooms, sometimes ;)

Do you wear the same clothes for a month?

nope....but that has nothing to do with my sheets....and I am sorry you're offended about my sheets...but you're opinion still doesn't matter to me.

I agree about the dog or a cat. Who knows where there have been.

My dogs and cats have been in my bed!! :thumbsup2

I will be 45 soon...I hope you're right....because I FREEZE at night!!

Oh dear heavens!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am a bit sorry IO clicked on this one because now I visions in my head and they ain't sugar plums! :scared1:

I change my sheets every week although I admit that I may go a day or two longer if things get nuts. I understand the Mom who did not change the sheets after the beds were made..............my own Mom got around that by rolling us out of bed at the crack of dawn every Saturday morning :dance3: We ended up on the floor if we did not move quick enough :rotfl2:

I cannot get into an unmade bed, and I hate sheets that are all lumpy so it is sometimes just easier to take one set off and put a clean one on.

I'm disgusted at the amount of people that think dogs and cats in the bed is gross! ;)

I wash mine more than once a week.

I have a touch of OCD as far things in my home smelling good. I do laundry everyday and it is NEVER a full load so I use sheets/pillowcases as fillers so I don't "waste" as much water. I figure since I am washing the sheets, I might as well do the blankets too:confused3.

If for some reason I DON'T keep up with the laundry, they get washed when I can't smell the fabric softener anymore.

I have a fabric softener/dryer sheet addiction. The fabrics in my home HAVE GOT to smell like they just came out of the dryer. Downy Unstopables are my new love, but they are expensive and I use almost a bottle a week.

It is strictly a smell thing for me. I don't feel dirty or anything if they aren't washed as often...I just like the smell!:rotfl:

You let a DOG sleep IN the bed with you? And you only change the sheets once a week? Now THAT makes ME feel  YUCK!

Seriously... I wear sweats or pajamas to bed. I am NOT in contact with the sheets, I am in contact with the clothes I am wearing. Of course I don't wear my jeans for a month; they are in contact with me. However, I will wear a cardigan or jacket for a month, and my winter coat for longer, because they are not in contact with my skin- I have clothes on between me and the coat, just like I have clothes on between me and the sheets.

Yes, I let my little puppy princess sleep in the bed with me. Sometimes in the middle of the night the cats jump up there and take a snooze, too!

I have no problem letting our pets hop in the bed. They are indoor-only pets who live in our house. They are not foraging around outside. We bathe our pets (including the cats!) about every two weeks. If the pet would get sick, or step in something yucky we clean it. Our pets go to the vet and are kept up to date on vaccines and we test their poo to make sure they don't have parasites.

Our dog is our little baby and we ENJOY having her sleep in the bed with us and I don't see any need to change the sheets more regularly than once a week.

Guess what? As I was writing this, my little bulldog jumped in my lap! Her FUR was touching my pajama pants and my SKIN! Someone get the delousing powder! :lmao:

I haven't said anything about this yet but I couldn't imagine an animal in my bed. My own mother lets her dog and cat sleep in her bed and I can't believe it because she is an absolute clean freak. Like border line crazy clean freak, but she lets her pets in her bed with her. She loves animals though, me not so much. I will not pet or touch any animal, maybe a really cute puppy I might give a little pat but if I go to someones house I hate when thier pets come near me and there is no well in H*&* i'm going to pet it. My mom gets mad because I won't let her bring her dog into my house. My kids have begged for a dog for years, I tell them it's just never going to happen. I just couldn't imagine having an animal live in my house at all let alone on or in my bed. Yes I know I'm in the minority and tons of people have pets but the thought of pet hair in my house makes me crazy. I also really hate the smell of dogs. The funny thing is I grew up with pets and my mom being such a clean freak I know in theory they can co-exist in harmony with a clean home but I could never get my head around actually having an animal in my home, thankfully my DH agrees with me for the mostpart, so my poor kids are out of luck until they move out and get their own pets:laughing:

Dog Hair: Don't see a big deal with it. We have a short-hair breed. We brush her, give her regular baths, and I don't have a problem with her shedding a bit in bed. Guess what? I often KISS her head which is covered in DOG HAIR. Hope I survive...

Drool: I honestly think my husband drools more than my dog.

Feet: I often walk around barefoot (including outside in the lawn) in the summer. I don't scrub my feet before hopping in bed. If my dog steps in something funky, it's very clear the second she walks in the house and we clean her feet.

Noses, Muzzles, Tounges: Not seeing an issue here. I often give her a kiss on the noze or muzzle and sometimes she gives me a lick on the face. She is not running around the neighborhood hanging out with other dogs, so I'm not seeing that angle.

Fleas or Ticks: Not an issue, my dog doesn't have them.

So I'll keep my weekly-washed sheets.
