Not sure where to post this... I was thinking about the upcoming trip and buying the refillable mugs. But, what is the best way to wash them? Especially if grabbing a refil before heading to the park and it sitting in the bottom of the carriage all day. I know there are like disposible wipes with dishwashing liquid in them, but I can't find them ANYWHERE!!

Any other suggestions or thoughts?

Thanks

I'd rinse them out with water as soon as they were empty - then when I got back to the room I just used hand soap. On vacation my standards are different.;)

Now that I don't have a stroller to carry the mugs around with me - it's less of an issue.

When we were at the resort there was a water spout to rinse them near the drink fountains.

What I usually do is to pack a small bottle of Dawn dishwashing liquid in my suitcase so I can wash them out thoroughly each evening. Then they are ready to go the next morning. Like someone else said, I too give them a good rinsing shortly after use so they won't be too sticky or yucky by the end of the day. I also buy the travel pack of paper towels to have in the room and they come in super handy.

You could always pour hot water from the coffee machine in it to sterilize them a bit, run cold water in them until they cool down again, then refill them. Don't forget about running hot water through the lid also.....

It might not be boiling water, but it is very hot and will probably kill must yuckies....

That is exactly how my family and I always clean our mugs after using them in WDW.

We also bring a small contaitner of dish detergent and wash them out with that and a washcloth.

When we went a few years back, I had packed a small bottle of dawn in our stuff and used that for the mugs and the sippy cups. Rinse it after you use it in the bathroom, that would help also.

The disposable clothes that contain dish soap are no longer made

I think I may still have some under my sink(I didn't care for them)but they are probably dried up by now.:)

When we get new mugs my husband usually goes to the area where there's hot water for tea and runs the hot water in them for a bit.

I didn't care for them either for my daily washing. We use them for camping or staying at hotels. I saw them on sale for $1 about 18 months ago and I bought 5 boxes. I cut them in half or quarters for using in a hotel since you usually only need to wash 2-3 mugs or what ever.

If you still have some they should be fine because they are dry to start with. If you happen to find some in a store buy lots.

If you are flying to Orlando, remember the dish soap has to be 3oz. or less if you have a carry-on suitcase.

I usually just rinse really good and don't let it sit in my cups. I may try to find a sample size dishwashing liquid this time, but I'd have to find it in a hurry!

Or I guess you could get a shampoo size reusable bottle (travel size) and fill that. The kind they sell with the toothbrush holders.

Scotch-Brite has a package of 3 soap filled mini-pads that fits the bill!

We normally just rinse them out. We just got back from POR, and they have a station set up that you can rinse them out at. I normally carry a backpack into the parks for the mugs, ponchos, etc. Each morning when we left (with cups full) I would grab a handful of napkins. Then when they were empty, I would wipe them out, and stuff them full of napkins to prevent any sticky leaks in the backpack. Worked out pretty well for me.
