I am a new DVC member so bear with me. I am staying in a studio this summer at both SSR and VWL with my 3 kids (DS20, DD16, and DD13). Did I read somewhere that DVC members who are in studios will have access to free laundry?

Just thinking ahead of whether or not we can get away with carry on or not.

Yes, they are free. I always ask where the member laundry room is located at check in.

The laundry, trash, and ice rooms will be on the resort map that you are given at check in.

That is great! Now, just to convince my DD16 that it is okay to repeat an outfit!!!

Just to let you know, when I stayed at VWL in Jan '08 I could not easily locate the laundry room. Called the front desk twice and 2 different CM told me that I would have to come over to the main lodge and pay to do my laundry. Not true! I did find it so it is there. I can't remember but for some reason I don't even think it was on the large map at the villas located on the first floor. There were only 2 washers and 2 dryers and the one washer was having water issues, hopefully they have replaced them.

At SSR the laundry is near the pools. You'll need your room key for access. And don't put in any quarters if there are slots. Just push the tray in and the washer/dryer will start. Many of us staying in studios bring our own laundry detergent and dryer sheets. Otherwise there's Tide and perhaps Cheer for $1 a box in dispensers in the laundry room.

At SSR near the pools.

at VWL - near the elevators on the first floor - (they have taken this thing off the maps) - in front of the elevators - go down the hall on your left - it is the second (might be third) door on your right.

SSR has 2 washers and 4 dryers at each of its pool.

VWL only has 2 washers & 4 dryers (like to go before the rest of the guests are up)

VWL is not as close to a pool as SSR are - but you can still go swimming. just remember to pick a close watch on the time. the washer takes around 15 t0 20 minutes to rinse cycle - then around 10 minutes. the dryer takes around 35 minutes. these are the older ones. the new bigger/better? takes longer.
