Our washer stopped working this morning. It filled fine, and started to wash then stopped at the next phase. It won't spin at all. We looked at a timer for our model online and it's $115!

Do you have a top load washer that you like? We don't have the room for a front loading washer. We just looked at a Maytag pair at Home Depot a month ago that were on clearance for $300 each.

My parents have one of the top loading HE washing machines and love it. We will be getting the same model once we need one as well.

its probley the switch when you close the lid that what the problem was on mine have you drop the lid latley is so that the broblem juct elimate the switch

I had a top loading HE Maytag Neptune.......STAY AWAY! Nothing but problems. Maybe they've worked out the bugs. :confused3

This is what I was going to suggest. If you can, try to stick something (non metal) in that little hole where the lid latch would go and see if it starts to drain. If so, then you know it is the switch.

Mine was around $12 on eBay and I replaced it myself. The trickiest part was getting the screw off, that bugger was on there good!

Agreed, it probably is the switch.

Look up your model and make on the internet and then you can find exactly where your swith is located.

My BFF lives in FLl and ownes an applicance store, she walked me through most of the steps to take the olde one out. I was able to locate a local appl parts store that sells to the public. I think the part was $30 and following the simple on line steps DH & I were able put in the new one.

ALso, if it is the switch that advances the next steps, sometimes you can manually move the switch and advance to the wash setting. This is a temp fix but it works. You just have to be therer to watch every step.

Good luck.

Thanks for the replies.

My husband took off the front cover and we watched the timer. It still moves and turns while it's washing, but then it clicks and doesn't advance any further. It won't drain, spin, or fill.

I checked the switch and it's not that. I can get it to run with the lid up and place a clothespin in the slot. It won't do anything but agitate the clothes then click to the next cycle and stop. That's for any wash cycle, it's just stuck. :headache:
