Why do things break when you don't have time to deal with them? Grrrr. Either wait for DH to look at it or call a repair man for something that is probably a simple fix.

Good thing it was the last load of clothes.

I feel your pain. After a bunch of ruined clothes (rust stains), we finally replaced the washer which was 18 or 19 years old. Well, we've had it a month. Great. Or so we thought. My dfi just washed some light colored clothes that had never been washed in the old washer. Guess what? Rust stains!!! Turns out it was the dryer!!!!! Now we've got to get a new dryer. The sad part is it's only about 8 years old and in perfect (except for the rust) working order. It would cost about $250 in parts (I'd do the labor) to fix. Not worth it when I can replace it for about $150 or so more.

OMG Splash, I have been there and done that! I absolutely hate it when that happens! :headache:

My husband and his brother own an appliance repair company.....

He asked - what kind of washer?

Sounds like your wig-wag switch needs to be replaced. I think we've gone through a couple of those on your washer. Good luck with the repair. Laundromats are no fun.

Hmmmm I wonder of some Hi-temp paint would cover the rust. and not wear off on clothes.

I could do that but I would still have to replace the felt strips between the drum and the front and back bulkheads. They have rust in them too. Those are only $25 each. If I could repair it for under a $100, I'd do that.

Thanks for the tip.

Do you hear the motor start when it would normally spin and agitate? Does it stil add water?

If you can hear the motor start then it is most likely a mechanical problem. Like a broken belt or loose pulley. Which is easier to see compared to an electrical problem.

But look on the bright side. If it does not agitate it should not get banned.

Is it still making sound but nothing is moving? when ours was doing that we had to replace the motor isolation coupler...basically the plastic and rubber thing that goes between the transmission and the motor. It costs about $13 - $15 and DH fixed it himself. Hope it's something simple to fix like ours was.

To tell ya the truth, I don't know what its doing or not doing. He came upstairs & said it was not agitating or spinning & I don't feel like going downstairs to look at it. :rotfl2: He threw the wet clothes in a bag & put them in my car so I can go find a laundromat tomorrow. Oh joy.

He's fixed our washers & dryers so many times i've lost count. This washer is probably only about 10 yrs old and its the first problem its had. We got it at Sears. I think its a Kenmore (or Whirlpool) because that's what I usually buy. How sad that I don't even know without going to find out. I know all my other appliances though.

Give Cathryn Rose's husband a call :lmao: :rotfl: :lmao: . He helped us fix our dryer over the phone!!!

Sounds like a broken/loose belt to me. Had that a few times on my old washer. Simple to fix usually.
