Washing machine leak?

I did a load of laundry yesterday and there was a puddle under the machine when I was done. We pulled it out and checked the hoses and there was no water on them so I don't think they are leaking. The fittings are all tight. It has to be coming from somewhere else. Any ideas if this is a major problem, minor problem. I don't want to call a repair man on Sunday. I had this happen once when DH overstuffed the washer after it was running. When he pushed another piece of laundry in, the water somehow overflowed?! We've never had a problem since, but what I did to be sure we're cautious is bought one of the plastic pans that goes under the washer to catch small spills. I also got a water alarm at Lowes that goes off if the contacts get wet. Between the two, any little overflow is 1) known about and 2) contained!

Just a thought....but if it's really leaking, gotta get it fixed! That I have no clue about, though.

Do you have a front loader by chance? This happens to ours when the seal in front cracked (the large rubber ring that runs along the inside whole, not on the door). And we noticed it when we did a gentle cycle for some reason, not sure why. We are thinking because the machine wasn't spinning as fast and the water seeped out.

Sounds like what happened with our old washer.

It was where the tub,agitator,motor all go together with fittings and gaskets.

Would have been a big repair....

We got a new front-loader washer and dryer.

my front loader leaked the other day because the drain was clogged- I had washed a stuffed animal a few days before and apparantly it lost some of it's stuffing. It was a huge puddle-dh just unclogged it and no problems since then.

We had ours leak water, even dripped through to the basement. There were no leaks in the hoses or anything else. It only happened once, it was a few years ago, and hasn't happened since. We assumed it somehow was overfilled and the water splashed out the top somehow.

I have a top loader that has been leaking on and off for a number of years. It doesn't happen all the time and the puddle is small. But it sits next to a small freezer so I can't decide if it's the washer or the freezer drip pan. It sounds like it's the washer and it's toast? The washer is over 15 years old and so probably isn't worth fixing? I hate to have to buy new.
