washer and dryer

We have front loaders - bought in Aug when we bought a new house. We also have hard water (well water) and a water softner system. We've very happy with our front loaders (LG model - cherry red).

DS is a toddler, and gets very dirty, plus DH does lots of outdoor and indoor manual labor around the house (yard work, tile work, etc). So we have very dirty clothes. Everything gets clean.

I use the HE stuff from Costco - Egos or something like that. Doesn't seem to be a bad price. Also, I leave the door open on the washing machine for a day or so after running laundry, to let it dry out.

The machines hold a ton of clothes, and I'm very happy.

(to avoid the bending down to load the washer - DS has decided he LOVES to help mommy with laundry. So his job is to put the dirty clothes in, and then switch the clothes from the washer to the dryer. He loves to do it, and he's the perfect size to do it without bending down. It may take 3 x as long as doing it myself, but we both have far more fun with laundry this way.)

:rotfl:, and just how much does the little one make? I am sure the labor board will be all over you for making your son work for "mommy hugs and kisses";)

We researched for over a year and finally decided on an LG Front load steam washer and dryer. I don't know if it really holds much more than my old washer, but the dryer dries in half the time! We don't ever have super dirty clothes so I've noticed no difference in cleaning either.
You do have to leave the door open for a while and wipe it out or it does start to have an odor.

i have had a kenmore washer and dryer now for over 20 years and have never needed any repairs... fingers crossed.

(didn't read pps)

My ONLY beef is that we don't have a matching dryer. I don't care that they don't match colors and shape - it's annoying to have such a HUGE washer and tiny (like almost half the size) dryer! 99% of my wash loads have to be dried in 2 different dryer loads... which then means that I can't run another wash while the dryer is running becuase the other half of the clean/wet load are waiting to go into the dryer.

I have two dryers and one large capacity front load washer. I highly recommend this set-up. Laundry gets done sooo fast! :laundy:

They now make top loaders with no center agitator stick...so they hold more, nearly as much as a front loader...and they're high efficiency...and do a great job cleaning.

We went with the Whirlpool Cabrio set a couple years ago...I love them!

We also have the Cabrio, love it!! I do use HE deterg (which isn't more where I live, I use Wisk or All)
