Was your ME experience good or bad??

How was your ME experience??

  • Very good - would definately do it again our next trip

  • Average - a little slow but probably would do it again

  • Less then okay - too slow and time consuming, I am not sure if I would do it again

  • Just horrible in every way - would never think of doing it again

We are planning on using the ME service in Sept/Oct. Does it matter which airline you fly? We are flying Southwest.

It only matters in the fact that when you return to the airport after your stay that you will have your luggage travel with you on the bus and then proceed to southwest ticketing to check your bags and receive your boarding pass

We used it May 17-25, and despite my apprehension, it worked amazingly well. I would even say that it took less time than the limo we used before. Checked bags showed up about 2 hours after our arrival. We had checked in to our Port Orleans Riverside room for a quick nap before heading to the parks, so it wasn't a hardship, and they were there before we left, so we knew they weren't lost. ALWAYS keep a change of clothes or two and necessary items in the carry-ons. I could live with doing a little laundry and having to pay for diapers for the length of our stay (even with twins and at Disney prices), but having to buy 5 sets of clothes would put a damper on the budget (or at least the attitude!).

Our departing trip was just as efficient. Got our boarding passes and check the luggage at the hotel. We were scheduled for a 3:00 bus for a 6pm flight, but had no problems getting on one that was half an hour earlier (remember those twins I mentioned? Takes a little extra time to move two 2 year olds anywhere). When we arrived at our home airport, there was our luggage waiting for us!

All in all, a pretty neat system now that appears to be working...

Regarding the person who is still missing their luggage from May, it probably was stolen at MCO. I've had that happen to me on a past Disney trip. I found out from the people I spoke to at the airport & Southwest, that stolen luggage is an ongoing problem they deal with at MCO.

Somebody happened to be walking out of a restaurant in Orlando and noticed a "homeless" person at the dumpster going through a suitcase - she called the police immediately from her cell phone. Come to find out it was my suitcase! If that person hadn't noticed the person rummaging in the dumpster or hadn't called the police, my "lost luggage" would still be a mystery today.... (PS, my underwear at least was recovered from the dumpster - apparently they didn't want that!)

We just got back last night, and we used ME both to and from MCO.

Our experience upon arrival was great - we hadn't received our luggage tags, but we had no problems. Our flight arrived an hour and a half late, but we were met by CMs that directed us to the check-in area. We landed at 11:40 AM and we were in our room at POP at 1:00 PM. We left for Chef Mickey's at 5:00 PM and our luggage was in our room when we got back at around 9:00 PM. No problems there.

Unfortunately, the return experience wasn't quite as good. We received our ME package on our door Thursday morning for our return on Saturday. It said that we should be out front, with our luggage, for a 3:10 PM departure. We called luggage service Friday night and asked them to pick up our luggage in the morning, as we would be in the parks very early. We went to AK, came back, and spent the rest of the afternoon by the pool.

We retrieved our luggage from luggage services, and went out front to wait for the bus. So far, so good. But confusion reigned from that point. A bus was there, but there was seemingly no organization as to who would get on. Then, I realized that there was a CM there that was calling out numbers. I asked her what we needed to do and she said "Do you have a number? You have to have a number to get on the bus". I told her no, that I didn't realize I had to have a number, since nothing about numbers was mentioned in the instructions I had received on Thursday. She replied that "...it's a system I just put in place this morning". OK, then please give me a number and I'll be glad to wait my turn. She didn't know how many numbers she had given out, didn't know how many people still needed to get on the bus, etc. In short, it was a mess. We did get on the next bus, and everything was fine from that point forward, but they could really use some organization for pick-up. Apparently they are having problems with people showing up hours early for pick-up, hoping to get an earlier flight, then there isn't room for the people that are there at the assigned times.

I had a great experience. Flew in Saturday, June 11 and landed at 9:45 AM. I was checked in at POP Century and headed to Epcot by 11:00. My bags were in my room when I got back at around 3:00. On the return, the bus was on time for pick up at the Beach Club and I got to the airport with plenty of time to check my bags and clear security. I plan to use this again for my December trip to the Contemporary.

I would use ME again. We never received our tags before we left so we did go pick up our bags before heading for the ME desk. From there it went very smoothly. Our return trip was even better. We checked our bags in early then went to our room for a while and shopped some in the gift shop. Our bus was on time and we were off to MCO. It was great not having to drag bags to the airport and not having to check in.

It must of just been a bad experience for me. With all the great response I thought for sure this would be a great ME experience for me. We got our tags. Yeah! Got to the ariport flight was early. Walked to the ME counter. No line took just mins to stand in our resort bus line. Now that took an hour. The CM jokes and tricks were getting lame. It was nice for them to do that though but after being up since 4 am being on a plane for 4 hours I wasn't in the mood. All other resorts lines never waited. So took 2 hours and 10 mins to get to our resort after landing. We got half our bags by 7:30 pm we landed at 1:55. Then got 2 more bags at 10:30 then our last bag at midnight. DH not happy camper. So return trip home was a nightmare. We specifically used Delta so that we could do our airport check in at the resort. We got our ME letter under the door. All info was correct no problems right. Well we have bell hop get our 16 pieces of luggage. He takes the 8 carry on's to store for us for the day since we didn't have to leave till 2:30 on the bus. Then the counter lady said we weren't in the computer and they couldn't check our bags or give us boarding passes. They called delta and they said hey your in our system no problems just come to our ticket counter to check in. OK there was a reason for using ME. I told them they had till 2pm to get the problem fixed to where we could check in there. We had 2 kids under 10 an almost 80 yr old woman and almost 60 yr old woman and 16 pieces of baggage. Plus my DH and I. We talk with the font desk. They said they would make sure bythe time we leave it will be fixed and if not we could just use Sky cap at the airport. ( so I have the FREE ME service and have had to tip bell hop twice once for 16 pieces of luggage and then again for 8 that the airport people didn't take. This took over an hour. Wasted park time. OK so we come back and nope we still couldn't check in at our resort. Then we come back about 30 mins later and the counter was closed. We haul all of it to the airport. NO sky cap like they ALL said. DH hunted down someone from upstairs to come down and haul it all up stairs. 16 pieces of luggage. Oh ya have to tip that guy too. (or at least ya should and we did) So then we stand in line at the ticket counter for an hour. An HOUR. Furious now let me tell ya. Everybody blaming the other guy. It was ridiculous. Then on top of that. We check our bags kids, grandma and greatgrandma take the girls to the bathroom. Thank goodness they took their carry on. We were told we had to take all of our bags down to be screened. Mind you we had 2 golf bags 4 big suitcases full of all the stuff we bought, 2 kid suitcases, 4 carry ons and a lithograph the size of MT Everest. LOL The 2 of us couldn't take it all at once. Then on top of that you can't just leave your stuff so the 2 of us couldn't even go at the same time. The place was packed and trying to fanagle your way through people to this screening place at the end of the ticket counter area was ridiculous too. This FREE ME service sure wasn't FREE for me. Luckily though they take you 3 hours before your flight or we would of missed it glad the flight was a little delayed too. Sorry to still after 15 days I'm still mad about it. But had a great time at the parks. :)

We never got our tags but that didn't matter. When you get off the plane go straight to the ME counter-- not to baggage claim. We wasted time doing that and it was not necessary. Everthing went smoothly after we went to the ME counter and the way back. Actually, yesterday at this time we were on thw ME bus. :cool1:
>>>>>>We never received our tags either. That makes me very nervous but I was assured that our names are in the computer, on a list and that everything will be o.k. They also told me to place yellow ribbons on our suitcases-the ribbon will be a dead giveaway that those bags are destined for ME. Will let you know next weeeknd how it all played out.
