Ok after reading and posting here, i went to find my first digital camera. I went looking for the canon s2 is. i get to the store and i start playing with all of them. i see the canon and i was intimidated :faint: way too much camera for me. so i look a few cameras over and i see a panasonic fz5. it looked complex but do-able. It was on sale $208 so i got it. i also got a 1gb mem card. i went to the review website and it looked ok. i took a couple of pictures of my pets and i liked them. except for marlou's she keeps moving, i can't get that dog to sit still for a sec!
Do you guys think i made a good choice? popcorn::

That is a great camera at a great price, are you sure it was the FZ5 and not the LZ5?

You got a heck of a good price!! Especially when you thow in a 1G memory card.

not going to debate the merits between Panasonic vs Canon, but there is no such thing as "too much" camera. One always grow into it, and for some they'll grow out of it and upgrade to dSLR.

I think it's a pretty slick digicam - 12x optical zoom IS, supposedly near DSLR trigger speed and it includes a cool looking lens hood - whic can block the flash and focus assist light - but that's to be expected. And as such - the biggest kicker ... YOu got it for $208 and it debuted in April of 2005 at $499 on the street (originally announced at PMA in Feb of 2004)!!!! 5 MP with all this for a shade over "2" and 60% off after only 15 months from introduction is a great deal!!! Especially if you feel you "fit it" better then the alternatives you considered! :thumbsup2

You did fine. When you've outgrown its' capabilities than at $208 you can move on without regrets!!!!

Cheers, with my compliments!
