Was MB $10 at BCV before they opened?

What was the MB offer for BCV during pre-sales?

I know about the hotel stay offer but I'm curious if MB was $10/pt or more?

Thanks in advance. :D

i remember it was either taking $5 off (from $75 to $70, no MB) or taking the free hotel stay.

As lat posted, there was not MB offered. You could either take the hotel stay or choose $5 off per point without having to sell back you first years points. This brought the price down from $75 to $70.

Did you have to turn right around and bank those first year points?

Did anyone use those pts at other DVC resorts?

Do you remember what the specifics were for the hotel stay-how many pts did you have to buy for 3nts/7nts/etc?

Because there was no MB, did you have to put 20% down instead of 10% plus MB?

Thanks for all of the info.

I think you do have to follow the banking window based on your use year

The points cannot be used until BCV opened on July 1. You could make reservation before that, but the stay could not be before 7/1.

I remember it was 150 pts gets 5 nights and 210 pts gets 7 nights.

Don't know about the down pmt part. I did not finance.

I think SSR will have better incentives before the points will be sold much farther out from its opening date when compared to BCV. However, since they will raise the price to start with, not sure how great the net net incentives are. I will keep an open mind though.

For mine, it was 20% down. But the $5/point was applied directly to the down payment.
100 points * $75/point = $7500
$7500 X 20% = $1500
$1500 - $500 ($5/point) = $1000 down
$6000 balance due at closing.

Wasn't the first use year February 2002? So there were no prior year points to bank right away? That's why MB did not give back points because there were none to give back.

I don't think you could use the BCV points bought during the presale for another DVC resort for a stay before BCV's July 1 opening.

Do you know when the $10 MB started for BCV?

So, was it better to buy BCV pre-opening or later?

Just trying to get a feel for what might take place with SSR and we are still a tiny bit open to an add on at BCV.

We just had VB until a while ago se we were out of the loop on all the various different things that were offered around the time BCV opened.

The pre-sale price was definatly the best. When they started the $10 MB they raised the price first. I don't remember exactly how much I think they raised it to $80 for awhile there before the current $84, but I am not positive on that. So, when the $10 MB started you still paid the same $70 that those paid during the presale that took the $5 off, but you lost your first years points.

When you purchased your points, could you immediately use them at other DVC resorts?

DebbieB,

If you purchased BCV before they opened didn't you get the current year's points-if you wanted-and the ability to use them at other resorts until DVC opened.

I'm kind of confused. Am I missing something?

When we bought in March of 2002, we couldn't use the points untill the resort opened in July. At that point we could use them anywhere we wanted. We went down the second week of July for a 3 night stay. We took advantage of the $5 per point presale discount, and had all of our points available. We got a March use year at the time we bought.

You could not use them at another DVC resort for a stay before BCV's July 1 opening. That's why the incentive was a stay at a regular WDW resort. To allow those points to be used at other DVC resorts before July 1 would have put the system out of balance, members at other resorts could not stay at BCV before the opening date so they could not allow BCV members to stay at other DVC resorts.

I still have the sheet that shows the hotel stay offer:

150-209 Points= 5 nights
210-259 Points= 7 nights
260-309 Points= 7 + 3 nights
310-359 Points= 7 + 5 nights
360+ Points= 7 + 7 nights

The stay could be at
AKL
BC
BWI
CBR
CR
CSR
Poly
POR
WL
YC

riggins,

Thanks!

Did you take advantage of that offer yourself?

Did anyone use this type of stay to stay on the concierge floors at any of the properties listed?

When I purchased BCV in October 2002, they were still offering the $10/pt buy-back. There was no offer for rooms stays. I purchased my points at $80 level. I closed on Nov. 23, 2002 and they went up on Dec. 1, 2002 to $84.

When we took the tour in Sept 2002, they were offering 150pts at $80/point, but no mention was made of MB. Our guide did tell us that a price increase would be coming through before year end, and sure enough, went to $84 !!:D

Since I bought BCV when the presale first became available, I took advantage of the $5 "rebate" per point rather than a five night stay. (Why would anyone want the 5 night stay?)

So, I bought 150 @ $70 per point, and I'm glad I did. I was happy that I didn't have to finance through Disney, but I wish I could have bought more points. :-)
