Was it difficult not choosing home resort for Trip?

Our first stay as DVCers was at SSR in a studio, and it is our home resort. We loved the resort and will certainly go back, but, we want to try them all.

So - just wondering if it was tough for others to choose another resort over their true "home" resort? As much as I want to try the others - we just loved the location of SSR having DTD right across and LBV golf course right on site.

Top to choices for us:

1. BCV or BWV - Location. We love Epcot, and that would be our main reason. It would be nice to walk back from the fireworks, and we love the food in Epcot - so we could have dinner their every night.

2. VWL - It is the theme we like the most. We loved our stay at Wilderness Lodge, and it was during that stay that we decided we really wanted to look into DVC and see if we could afford it - We just loved WL

I think when we decide to book - it might be tough not to go back to SSR as we had such a great experience.

Anyway - I am pretty sure we are going with a 1 bedroom at BCV if we can book it - that is probably our top choice, only because we have been to WL and want to try something different, and again - EPCOT is the park we usually spend the most time in.

Just wondering if anyone else "struggles" with these dilema's? !!!!

We just returned from Disney a couple of weeks ago. Our home resort is VWL which we just LOVE. We stayed at OKW since it was the least amount of points.

We also want to try all of the resorts, but are afraid we will miss our home resort. Our Stay at OKW was nice but we did miss VWL.

The thing we missed the most is the atmosphere of the lodge and the closeness of the MK. It is the most convenient for us now since our DD is only 4 and we spend most of our time there.

I do. Even though I think I would like to try the other DVC resorts, when it comes reservation time, I find that I just can't give up BWV - the location is so wonderful. And since the Boardwalk view is now guaranteed, thought we'd "splurge" and see how we like it on our next trip. It will be the first time we've not booked a standard view.

Except for one short trip to VB, we've only spent points at BWV and we bought in 1999. I will admit that I'm very tempted by SSR - we loved being near to DD when we stayed at the Wyndham Palace in 2002 (couldn't get into BWV when we decided to begin our trip a few days early well after the 11 month window opened. Even the waitlist wasn't available).

I still think I'd like to try the other DVC resorts, but I don't think it will happen for quite some time yet, LOL!

Best wishes -

It seems like once you get a taste of a certain resort and you fall in love with it you tend to go back. Our home is OKW. We purchased additionally into SSR and are staying there next month. DH is afraid that we will be comparing it to OKW. We love the idea of being next to DTD so that may sway us to stay there more. However, as much as we love OKW I have a feeling that we will be back there again and again. For some reason we have no real desire to try any others as the current time. I guess we consider OKW our home.

I own at VB. Have only stayed there once. Bought there to use there mostly. Have tried OKW, VWL & BWV.

But because I live in central Florida I can take advantage of some really good deals on site at the resorts.
Plus I like to stay at some of the hotels around Disney.

We will probably be using our points mostly at VB. I am going to try to make a family reunion trip at HH. But at 7 months out it may not be possible.

Next week we stay at Grosvenor Resort at downtown disney just for two nights. I hope I don't regret it.

July 4th weekend we stay at Doubletree Club.

July 23 weekend we stay at CSR.

So lots of Disney time! Just not always at the DVC resorts.

July:bounce:

Our home resort is the BWV but on 3 occasions it was booked so we have stayed at OKW. Actually I should say our 3rd stay at OKW will be in September. We have also stayed at VB on two occasions. Although we have a small contract at the BCV we will be staying there for the first time in December. I have to say I love the BWV but we have always enjoyed OKW and VB. They are all great resorts.

Our home is BWV and we have stayed there 3 times and love it. We have also tried VWL and on our last trip OKW. We like to try new things and hope to someday have stayed at all the WDW resorts (don't have many more to go). Over and over I see us going back to BWV.

So I say try them when they seem right for you, but if you want to stay with one then do it!

I like to try all the resorts, knowing that I can go "home" anytime I want. I feel like I can get a "different" vacation each time I go.

Our first DVC trip to SSR begins Saturday...so I guess I won't really know how I will feel about other resorts til I stay there. At this time, I really want the chance to try each of the DVC resorts.

I almost switched our reservation to BCV this year...knowing that it will just become more and more difficult to get a ressie there as time goes on. Who could pass up staying at our brand new home, though? :D

Carol - I PM'd you about Wyndham Palace.

VWL is our home resort. Of the 3 DVC trips we have taken, only one has been to VWL (HHI and VB were the others). We REALLY like/love both HHI and VB (trying to save up money for an add-on!) and will be staying at either HHI or VB on our next trip.
DW and I will, most likely, be spending only 1 of every 2 or 3 DVC trips at a WDW DVC location.

Dave

We love our home resorts, but we also enjoy experiencing all that WDW offers. We have stayed at nearly all non-DVC WDW resorts and all but three of the DVC resorts. We are looking forward to stays at them all.

I also find it hard to tear away from my home resort OKW. I stayed at HH and Vero Beach which I loved both of them. This year I was going to try BCV but I instead I went back to OKW. One day I would like to stay at all the resorts. I keep telling myself baby steps, baby steps...... LOL::MinnieMo

We're still enjoying trying each one....we own at both BCV and SSR, but our goal is to try at least one different resort per year...maybe then we'll settle into just ONE favorite place. :yo-yo:

So far, all three trips that I have booked have been at my home resort, BWV. My intentions are to try all the DVC WDW Resorts. However, I think that they will have to work into the vacation plans. Since most of the activities that we usually plan involve mostly Epcot, it will be hard to tear away from BWV.

I really would like to try VWL in early December at some point. But that will probably be at least 3 years from now because of the plans that are already in the works. It will probably be almost impossible to book at that time since it’s not my home resort. May have to try an exchange with someone that would like BWV for the F&W Festival!

If only I had more points and more vacation time from work!! Then trying out all of them would be much simpler. LOL!!:)

Our "home" is OKW, and while we love it there and favorite it slightly over the other DVC resorts, I don't find it difficult to book at the other DVC locations because they're all fantastic resorts from what I can see. Besides, just because one location is your "home" base so to say, doesn't mean you shouldn't feel free to try all the DVC resorts. In fact, when we bought, only OKW, VB and HH were offered to us. We never got the opportunity to make the other resorts our "home". So while we're not unhappy in the least with OKW as our home base, it's fun to be able to stay at all the DVC resorts from time to time. When we purchased OKW, we bought the whole "package" of using our points at all the locations---this was a huge part of the appeal of DVC vs other timeshares for us. You can go to WDW every year, but by booking different resorts, you make for a different and unique vacation every time. Should using points at other DVC locations other than your "home" be eliminated by DVC, we would be very happy and content at OKW but honestly can say we'd miss having the freedom to choose whenever we wanted. We love the flexibility of the program. As an OKW owner, I loved it last year when we got a "welcome home" at check-in of the lobby at the BWV. The CM didn't care if my "home" resort was OKW or wherever. All that mattered to that CM was that I was a Member.
I feel if you are a DVC Member, all the DVC resorts are "home" :wave2:

I own at BCV.Last trip we could not get in so we stayed at BWV.We loved BWV so much that we can't decide where to stay next time.

I guess there are a lot worse problems.LOL

I always book home resort (BCV) at 11 months. This year I planned to try someplace different by switching at 7 months. But when the time came, I couldn't talk DW into switching! Oh well...

I've tried all the resorts except SSR and I do like them all but my home resorts of BWV and BCV are my favorites simply because Epcot is my favorite park.

We were booked for 9 nights at BWV in January at a studio and found a 1 BR at OKW for 7 of those nights thru II. We took it and cancelled all but 2 nights at BWV. Got to save all those points that we can!!!! It doesn't take us long to use all of our points and then borrow all we can. Does that mean it is time to buy more???:teeth:

yes its hard when you decide to go home last min. and ms says, sorry nothing available and you have to stay at a different dcv resort, but it is always nice not staying at the same dvc resort every trip. our home resorts are BCV & SSR , we love them both,
BCV because of SAB & across the lagoon is the boardwalk,
SSR we just stayed one night and we love the pool and the view of DTD and we enjoy visiting DTD and like the short distance by boat or walk to DTD from SSR.
then BWV because of the boardwalk view we just stayed in during MH wow, what we were missing and of course the boardwalk
VWL the seclusion and the pool/hotub, that woodys feeling like camping without the camper, lol (not that there is anything wrong with a camper , its just not for me)
OKW the golf course, the easy boat ride to DTD

Our home is BCV, which has always been our favorite resort. For us, the location is ideal. However, we just got back from a quickly put together trip and stayed at OKW. When I first called to check on availibility, I couldn't get BCV so opted for OKW and then waitlisted for BCV. Then Dh and I talked it over and decided we should try OKW, so I called and cancelled the wait list. AND we're glad we did. BCV is still our favorite, but I think I understand a little better why so many people love OKW. It's a beautiful place, has a very homey feel to it and was very relaxing.
We also enjoyed the boat ride over to Downtown Disney.
Since trying OKW, we've decided to try all the different DVC's.
