Was it difficult not choosing home resort for Trip?

I'm going thru the same situation right now eporter. I own at SSR and have enough points to book it at 11 mos. I used up my BCV points last Jan at the BWV. I am thinking of switching to BCV because we love the BW area restaurants and being close to 2 parks. We also have 2 small children and thought SAB might be enjoyable for my 3 yr old. I have 50 yrs to stay at SSR and as more and more people join DVC I'll have a lesser chance of staying at the other, smaller resorts like BCV or VWL as Kweaver mentioned above.

But then the flip side...... SSR is brand spanking new, the bus service sounds very good, it's near DTD w/ all of its restaurants, we can bus it to other resorts easily for dinners from DTD, the style is so us, and the pool looks and sounds pretty cool.

Such a dilemma. I too want to stay at all the resorts, but I find it so difficult to switch to another resort when I haven't stayed at my home resort yet. If anyone has an answer, please tell me. I love them all and won't be disappointed at any of them. Why am I having such difficulty w/ this. As Stevemed said, I guess there are worse problems. ::yes::

We have 2 home resorts: BWV, VWL. We usually visit both during our trips, regardless of where we stay, They both have great restaurants and activities, so there's always a good reason to visit.

We just got back from our stay at BWV. The last time we stayed there was the summer or 2001! I double checked our recorded, and couldn't believe it. In between, we've been to Disneyland's GC... tried out BC, stayed at GF, and have had several trips VWL. But I think we're finished with our wandering ways. This last trip reminded me how fantastic it is to stay at the Boardwalk.

From now on, we'll mostly be staying at our BWV home in the summer, and our VWL home at Thanksgiving.

Yes, we find it hard to book other resorts besides our home at VWL. One year, we had banked points and "strayed" to BWV and enjoyed it so much we bought a resale there.

In planning for next year, we're considering a stay at OKW or SSR for a change of pace. But it's hard to think of not staying at VWL for more than a year! So we'll probably split the stay, which is something I never thought we'd do since we don't like moving once we're on vacation.

I figure though, it's better to sample the other resorts while it's still fairly easy to book them at the 7 month window. I'm with the group that thinks it may get tougher in a few more years as the DVC grows and grows.

Actually, one of the "selling" points for DH was the ability to stay at different places. We both enjoy that. When planning a trip, to let him think he is involved (LOL!!) , I ask where he would like to stay. It is usually different each time I ask. In fact last night, we were discussing our trips for 05-06 points and I mentioned we could go to HH. He said "Now you're talking!!" He gets "tired" of the parks and loves to golf. I think he will love HH and it is a place neither of us has been. We like the new. The flexibility of places to stay is one of the best parts of DVC.

Nope..........not us.............We bought Vero Beach a few years back and have yet to even "consider" going there........

only problem is that any WDW stay is always a 7 month booking window..........

Planning another VWL trip in December 2005..................

No guilt

We own at VWL and OKW - Our very first trip "HOME" was to OKW as a default because nothing else was available - well we FELL IN LOVE W/OKW so much so that's when we bought our OKW resale:D

We have stayed at VWL and the theming is MAGNIFICENT! and we like it very much but OKW has our hearts!

We are scheduled to stay at BWV in a few weeks and I am so looking forward to the stay! I fear OKW will have competition for my heart after my stay at BWV - I LOVE this area!

So the answer is NO - I want to try every DVC resort!

Great responses, and yes, there are problems far worse than this one :)

I do agree with the thinking that as more members join, it will become more difficult to book at the smaller resorts. More than likely we will book our next trip at BCV if it is available. We usually go during the off-peak times of the year, so that should make it a bit easier to book.

It was fun to read all your thoughts on this. Thanks again!

Boy the reason I like this thread is all the mentions of OKW. We are in the process of going thru ROFR on OKW and to hear all the positive comments on OKU makes me feel real goooood....smjj

We own at VB, BCV, and VWL. We have stayed at all three, and also at BWV. We hope to try SSR next March when we go down for some spring training games. Also like to try OKW and HH someday. So, yes, we want to try them all. We decide where to stay based on what our needs are for our vacation. If we're going to parks, then we try to stay at BCV or BWV, maybe VWL. If it's a golf trip and we don't plan to go to the parks (I know some of you might be thinking we're nuts!), then we stay where it's easier to get to our vehicle, like SSR, OKW even VWL. I doubt that we would stay at BWV or BCV if we aren't going to the parks.

We own at BWV and VB.... We always find ourselves going back to both...

The main reason is that we usually end up taking friends and family with us when we go, and we beat the location of BWV... Being able to eat around the world at Epcot, or walk over at night to watch Fantasmic is a blast! :teeth:

Just recently we have found ourselves starting to explore some of the other resorts like AKL, FWC, CBR, or HHI...

As much as we say that we want to try ALL the resorts, we can't tear ourselves away from BWV. However, we do have BC ressies for October, but have waitlisted for BWV. It's a tough decision to have SAB or to stay at our home BWV. I'm torn on whether or not I want the waitlist to go through. We have a 1 BR at BCV, but BWV waitlist is for 2BR. I'm leaning towards wanting that more than SAB.
