First of all, I'm so sorry that you're hurt. Take care of yourself and get better soon.

I agree that it's time to "lawyer up" here. Because of your injuries, you're not in a position, physically, mentally, or emotionally, to be handling any of this now. A good attorney will be able to work with your insurance company or Avis's insurance company, etc., to take care of what needs to be done here.

Best wishes. Was the woman remorseful at all? I don't understand how she could have rented a car without showing a license or proof of insurance. I've always been required to show both in every state I've ever rented a car. Something is very fishy here . . .

Yes, buy the carseat and save the receipt and the old carseat. Then submit the receipt and the old carseat when it is settled in terms of who is paying. The insurance company will want the old car seat to make sure it is destroyed.

Sorry you are in such a mess and I would absolutely get a lawyer, you DO NOT want to deal with insurance companies (even your own) without representation.

car accidents are awful...

sounds like you have some great resources (with regards to lawyers)...they will take care of you!!

try to relax and rest and heal...the other stuff will still be there when you feel better and are better able to deal with it.
