Was I wrong?

I would have called or texted him. Just in case he would have woke up to go the restroom or what not. That way he wouldn't have been worried. He shouldn't have yelled at you.

That's what I would have done. I try to let DH know where I'm going to be if my plans change (and vice versa) and if he's sleeping I would send a text. I don't think he should have yelled, but I get pretty grouchy if I can't sleep too.

OP here. Thank you for all of your replies. I also feel that he was wrong, but I should have left him a message. I was just thrown into doing the lunch hour and the food wasn't cooked yet and nothing was done, so I really had no time to call. He told me he didn't want to hear any explanation and that nothing I said was going to make it any better. I agree that he needs to figure out how to sleep better on 3rd shift. He says that he always wakes up every 1 1/2 hours or so and has to fight going back to sleep. I feel bad for him, I really do, but he has been on this swing shift schedule for 12 years now. Lately, he has been getting grumpier and grumpier on this shift and it feels like you are on pins and needles as to not wake him up.
BTW, he did finally go to sleep at 6:00 and slept until 9:30, but no apology, just more complaining on how tired he was. So that is my night.
