Was I rude? Would you be rude too? (mild vent)

CoolPool you beat me to it! LOL Too funny.....LOL

I too resent the implication that because I'm poorer than others my children will have bad manners. That is simply NOT the case. I am told regularly that my kids are wonderful and the best kids in our after school program and by every daycare provider I've ever had. They wait their turn and they aren't pushy, they say Please and Thank You regularly (even to the lunch employees at the school) and generally really well behaved. I'd like to think they would be that way no matter how much money we do or don't have.

We did a breakfast at Goofy's Kitchen this year and it wasn't that great, we were sat off in a corner so every time we saw a character it was because they were leaving, we got seated and got food, sat down and ate....got up and got more food, sat down and ate and finally the characters started coming around. Only Chip and Snow White actually came to our table.....not one other character came around. We almost missed the Goofy "thing" because no one told us about it, we heard the noise and went to check it out. We saw Cinderella (DD7's FAVORITE) and waited and waited and waited....she never came around, finally we got up to leave and on our way out we saw her, we broke the number 1 rule and waited for her to finish the group she was with and interrupted her for a pic and autograph (not the first pic or autograph either), we explained that we were on our way out and asked if we could take a quick photo and she was very gracious and said yes. We let her know she is Jade's favorite (Jade was staring at her very starry eyed at that point) and she spent a few extra moments with her because of that. Now, let me point out that there wasn't a "line", she had just finished with one section of the restaurant seating and was moving to the next so we really weren't "out of line" by asking....at least not IMO. We would never have interrupted a family or a table group, we would have simply sat at our table and waited but we were getting a sort of "evil eye" look from the servers who kept walking by our table and I felt they thought we were taking too long so we did it that way.

Last year we did Lilo and Stitch and it was great!! We had amazing character interaction and we didn't feel rushed at all. Both of these breakfasts were at DL hotels and both were very different experiences. Will we do Goofy's Kitchen again? Probably not. Will we do Lilo and Stitch? Yes, definitely!!

We also do the Princess Lunch, that one is set up the BEST of all we've experienced. You get a table, you pick your meal, the Princesses are announced and they come around to your tables, you don't get up, you don't play games, you just eat and wait. My girls LOVE the Princess Lunch, it's something we will do for years to come, as much for the atmosphere and food as to see the Princesses. :) We are going to try the Princess Breakfast on our next visit....which should be coming up soon!!!! YAY!!!

OP-you asked if you were rude....sure you were, but nothing compared to the people who were jostling your table and leaning OVER you to take pictures....that is not acceptable and I too would have said something.

You might find ths hard to believe, but I completely agree with you in that last paragraph. Anyone who's read my posts knows I'm neither a snob nor an advocate for the rich. I do feel that real humility is something that money can't ever buy.

Interestingly, though, I feel I've touched upon a real DL issue. Walt said in his DL-opening speech that "Disneyland is your land." --No mention of which class(es) had/ have any more entitlement than the other.

For you DL regulars, I wonder if you've ever noticed any difference in manners, courtesy, etc. between the apparent social classes that visit DL. I like to think it's the kind of Utopia where we shed all that upon entry and show a happier, almost "Small World"-ish concern and courtesy for each other. Let me know what you've experineced, okay? And Viva harmony! ;-)

;) ;) :grouphug:

I am not surprised you agree with my point at all. Because I don't think you are really saying that the richer you are, the more likely you are to be a nicely mannered person. But I think your term social classes can be misunderstood. For the record, I have friends that have money, certainly more than me. But they don't dress that nice, don't always act that nice so therefore their social class is not really apparent. For that matter, who's is when you get right down to it? Was Howard Huges a nice dressed guy who one could tell by looking he had money? As someone else stated, is Britney Spears classy looking? If you saw her in public and didn't know who she was would you automatically think "now there's someone from the wealthy social class of Southern California". I doubt it.

When I am at Disneyland or WDW, I mostly notice lots of nice people having fun, taking pictures wearing funny hats and just enjoying the magic. I have had some hectic character meal experiences in my time, heck I have done all but one at WDW and all of them at DL. When someone gets out of line (and this happens most with characters both at the meals and in the parks) I don't usually see a distinction that glares out to me as "uh oh, lowerclass citizen alert". I just see someone that is either so excited or just clueless.

I think you are either prone to be rude or you're not. And its generally a result of the upbringing you had as a child and that has not one thing to do with social class.

I am not sure one can easily tell anymore what social class a person by seeing their behavior, the car they drive, the house they live in, how they dress, talk or act. So I don't know how I would be able to answer your question really.

I agree, not sure how the heck you identify someones "class" nor do I believe in this day an age that even trying to classify people into classes is appropriate. IMO there are people with less money but considerably more "class" than other perhaps wealthier people.
