Was I given correct information?

I just booked our rooms for an upcoming October trip. I had wanted to book POR, but it was unavailable for the military discount so I booked CSR instead. I don't mind that, we've been before and it's a fine resort, but I was going to keep trying to get POR. The CM told me that there was no point in checking back for cancellations because Disney only sets a certain amount of rooms aside for the military discount and if someone cancels they don't re-release it with that discount. So basically if POR doesn't have availability now, it never will, even if people cancel. Is this correct? I know that in years past we've been able to switch when things opened up.

No. That's stupid. Keep checking back. They could easily open more rooms or have a cancellation that you could snag. It's always changing.

Keep checking back. We originally wanted POR for August nothing available and the when I checked back..there it was..not a standard room but hey I will pay the extra for the Royal Room with the mil discount

Of all the mods we have tried so far CSR is our favorite. POR is the last one left for us to try..so I hope we saved the best for last.

I think both resorts are pretty neck and neck, but POR wins out slightly for us because we prefer the theming and the boat to DTD is nice.
