Was I Given Bad Information?

I was told almost a month ago that I can't make a reservation at any DVC resort with my AKV points until May 16th. Now I'm reading threads that look like people are using their AKV points to make reservations at other DVC resorts currently. I need a reservation for September 29 - October 5th at SSR and want to use my AKV points. Can I do that right now?

I was told the same by MS. The points that others are using may be the "developer's" points they chose, instead of the discount. Those can be used right away.

I was told the same, but there are threads saying what you just said. When I question the Op, on one thread, she replied back that she could use her AK points as long as the reservation was for after Sept 1, at another resort. I would call MS.

The AKV issue at MS is very confused. The CMs don't fully understand the program and seem to do what ever the computer lets them do. My account shows part of my AKV points available for banking. The CM told me that she would have to refer the remaining points to her supervisor for a manual entry. Our Guide told us that DVC is aware of the MS problems with AKV and she says that they are working to correct them.

It does depend when your unit is coming into the system. We can and have booked ressies for after Sept. (at 7 months out) with our AKV points.

Dec 2nd is more than 7 months from today, so you could only make a reservation at your home resort anyway, correct?

Yes I didn't think of that. I was making reservations at my home resort.

I booked a stay at OKW for the last week in may using both WL points and AKL points just 3 weeks ago. At first the ms person told me I couldn't do it but when I pointed out I wasn't using the points for AKL and they had already shown up on our account she put me on hold and came back and said that I could use them.

And the definitive answer is yes, I was given bad information. I was able to call yesterday and because the reservation was after my building was due to open at AKV and at a resort other than AKV I was able to make the reservation. So now all reservations are made and I couldn't be happier.
